Framingham Public Library Foundation

Framingham Public Library Foundation The Framingham Public Library Foundation was established by the Trustees of the Framingham Public Library.

The long-term goal is to create an endowment fund that will supplement, but not replace, funds received from the city of Framingham. The Trustees of the Framingham Public Library (FPL) established the Framingham Public Library Foundation to create a legacy for the future of both Framingham libraries.

As 2023 draws to a close, please consider making a donation to the Framingham Public Library Foundation, which provides financial assistance to fund critical library projects.

You can donate online at https://www.framlibfoundation.org/donate/
Or mail a check to the Framingham Public Library Foundation, 49 Lexington St., Framingham, MA 01702.

For some people, the Framingham Public Library is their "third space" - a place other than home or work where they gather, build relationships, and exchange ideas.

Based on what we know patrons love about the McAuliffe Branch, the Main Library is planning a welcome center that will feature:

• A central “living room” area
• Booth seating at the windows
• Plug-in furniture for devices
• A new periodicals and café area

With your help, this Third Space will bring comfort, connection, and community to Framingham.

Carter Freedlander, a young graduate student from Framingham, has been frequenting the SparkLab/MakerSpace at the main library to develop prototypes for his start-up fashion business. He is designing and making what he calls “streetwear” unisex tee shirts. His plan is to create prototypes using SparkLab equipment, and if the test run is successful, he will eventually purchase some of his own equipment.

With the help and support of Kelly Cashman, SparkLab Director, he created designs for the tee shirts, printed the designs using transfer printing paper, and cut the design out with the SparkLab’s Cricut Smart Cutting Machine. He then used the SparkLab’s Heat Press to meld the design onto the shirt. In addition, he selected designs from the SparkLab’s embroidery machine and created a shirt decorated with embroidery.

Soon he will try using the vinyl press to create additional designs. With Kelly’s guidance, he has also learned how to use sewing machines.

He is very grateful that the library has the SparkLab with its many resources and helpful staff.

Literacy Unlimited is a vibrant, active community of volunteers who work with adult ESOL students at the main library to improve their English proficiency through conversation classes, one-to-one tutoring, and citizenship classes.

The current space is too small for the number of students and tutors served. In-demand Conversation Classes, the first stop for so many new immigrants, have grown beyond the capacity of the small classroom and are now overflowing into the library.

Your donation to the Framingham Public Library Foundation will create a space intentionally designed for life-changing learning AND provides adequate and efficient space for staff.
