Big thanks to Art Illman of the MetroWest Daily News for capturing these incredible shots of our Firefighters on Probation (FFOPs) in action! 🚒📸

Last week, our probationary crew trained in simulated working fire conditions at the former Boyle Brothers Funeral Home at 173 Union Ave. Regular, realistic training like this keeps our team sharp and ready to protect the city. Great to have community partners documenting the hard work that keeps safe!

Yesterday, there was a small brush fire off Winthrop Street near Cover Avenue.

Although it is cold & raining today, here are tips to prevent brush fires:

Brush fires can spread quickly during dry and windy conditions. Residents can help reduce the risk by following these safety tips:

Never discard ci******es, matches, or smoking materials on the ground or from a vehicle.

Properly dispose of ashes from grills, fire pits, and fireplaces only after they have completely cooled.

Keep campfires and recreational fires permitted by local regulations small, attended at all times, and fully extinguished before leaving the area.

Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass, as hot exhaust systems and catalytic converters can ignite vegetation.

Properly maintain lawn mowers, chainsaws, and other outdoor power equipment that may create sparks.

Clear dry leaves, brush, pine needles, and other combustible materials from around homes, garages, sheds, decks, and propane tanks.

Store firewood, fuel, and combustible materials away from structures and wooded areas.

Use caution when grilling outdoors and keep grills away from dry vegetation.

Report any signs of smoke or fire immediately by calling 911.
If You See Smoke or Fire.

Move to a safe location.

Call 911 immediately.

Provide the location and any details about the size and direction of the fire.

Do not attempt to fight a brush fire unless it is very small and you can do so safely.

Brush fire danger is typically highest during the spring months and can increase during dry weather throughout the year.

Today, we were honored to take part in the City of Framingham’s Memorial Day Service to remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, selflessness, and steadfast dedication will never be forgotten. As we gather with family and friends, let’s pause to reflect on the freedoms secured by our fallen heroes.

May we always remember their sacrifice and carry forward their legacy with gratitude and pride. 🙏🏼🗽🇺🇸
