Mayor Charlie Sisitsky has submitted nominations to the City Council for re-appointment to the City of Framingham Economic Development Corporation (EDC).
🔹 Douglas Lawrence has been nominated for reappointment to the Industrial Development seat for a term ending June 30, 2029. Lawrence previously served as both a member and chair of the former EDIC and helped guide its transition to the current EDC. He brings extensive experience in economic development and business leadership and is currently the chair of the Framingham EDC>
🔹 Patrick Mosesso has been nominated to continue serving in a Community At-Large seat for a term ending June 30, 2029. A longtime local business owner, Mosesso has owned and managed businesses for more than 40 years and currently owns Auto Bright Car Care. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Framingham Business Association and has been active in several regional business organizations.
The Framingham Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is a public entity established by the legislation signed by former Governor Charlie Baker in 2021.
The Framingham EDC is dedicated to fostering economic growth by redeveloping underutilized, obsolete, or underdeveloped areas in Framingham.
The Corporation seeks to improve the health, safety, and welfare of residents through responsible development, including new construction, infrastructure improvements, and property rehabilitation. Its mission aligns with the City's broader goals of promoting business, residential, and mixed-use developments that support the local economy and enhance the quality of life in Framingham.
The Framingham EDC is empowered to:
Plan, develop, and manage infrastructure and public facilities that stimulate economic activity.
Acquire, develop, and repurpose land and buildings for commercial, industrial, residential, and mixed-use projects.
Collaborate with the City to facilitate the opening, closing, or modification of streets and other public spaces to support development initiatives.
Receive and manage funding from federal, state, and local sources to finance development projects.
Market and promote Framingham as a prime destination for business investment, working to attract and retain employers.
There is Framingham City Council appointments subcommittee meeting on June 24, at 6 p.m. to review the Mayor's nominations.
The full 11-member Framingham City Council is expected to accept or reject the reappointment nominations at its meeting on Tuesday, June 30.
