YARN SOCIAL HOURS

Join the Framingham Public Library for a yarn social hour for knitting, crocheting, and yarn crafting at the Main Library, McAuliffe Branch, or both!

At the Christa McAuliffe Branch, meet Wednesday evenings at 6PM.
At the Main Library, meet Wednesday mornings at 10AM and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 10AM.

This is not a learn to knit or crochet program, but the library can offer pointers and tips.

City of Framingham Announces Recycling Drop-Off Center Permit Renewal; Blue Stickers Expire June 30

FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham Department of Public Works reminds residents and businesses that current blue Recycling Drop-Off Center (RDC) permit stickers will expire on June 30, 2026.

New pink permit stickers for Fiscal Year 2027 (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027) are now available for purchase.

The Recycling Drop-Off Center, located at 255 Mount Wayte Avenue, provides permitted Framingham residents and businesses with a convenient location to dispose of excess trash, recycling, and household hazardous waste.

All vehicles entering the facility must display a valid permit sticker. Residents and businesses are encouraged to renew their permits before June 30 to avoid any interruption in access to the facility.
Permit Information.

As of May 20, 2020, all RDC permits are issued on a fiscal-year basis and are valid from July 1 through June 30.

Permit Fees
* Residential Permit: $20 per year
* Business Permit: $50 per year

How to Obtain a Permit
Permits may be purchased:
At the Recycling Drop-Off Center during normal operating hours; or
At the Department of Public Works offices, 100 Western Avenue, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Applicants must:
Provide proof of Framingham residency (current vehicle registration or proof of insurance showing a Framingham address);
Present current, non-commercial documentation;
Pay the permit fee by cash or check; and
Allow staff to place the permit sticker on the lower driver-side windshield.

Recycling Drop-Off Center Hours
Thursday: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. (Recycling Only)
Friday: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The RDC is available only to permitted Framingham residents who receive City curbside trash and recycling service and to eligible Framingham businesses.

Commercial vehicles are not permitted to dispose of trash.
Construction and demolition materials, including lumber, tile, concrete, and windows, are not accepted.

Permit holders must follow all facility rules and operate safely and courteously while using the site.

Residents replacing a windshield or purchasing a new vehicle may transfer their permit by presenting the original sticker, provided it is intact and the permit number remains legible.

Mayor Charlie Sisitsky has submitted nominations to the City Council for re-appointment to the City of Framingham Economic Development Corporation (EDC).

🔹 Douglas Lawrence has been nominated for reappointment to the Industrial Development seat for a term ending June 30, 2029. Lawrence previously served as both a member and chair of the former EDIC and helped guide its transition to the current EDC. He brings extensive experience in economic development and business leadership and is currently the chair of the Framingham EDC>

🔹 Patrick Mosesso has been nominated to continue serving in a Community At-Large seat for a term ending June 30, 2029. A longtime local business owner, Mosesso has owned and managed businesses for more than 40 years and currently owns Auto Bright Car Care. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Framingham Business Association and has been active in several regional business organizations.

The Framingham Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is a public entity established by the legislation signed by former Governor Charlie Baker in 2021.

The Framingham EDC is dedicated to fostering economic growth by redeveloping underutilized, obsolete, or underdeveloped areas in Framingham.

The Corporation seeks to improve the health, safety, and welfare of residents through responsible development, including new construction, infrastructure improvements, and property rehabilitation. Its mission aligns with the City's broader goals of promoting business, residential, and mixed-use developments that support the local economy and enhance the quality of life in Framingham.

The Framingham EDC is empowered to:

Plan, develop, and manage infrastructure and public facilities that stimulate economic activity.

Acquire, develop, and repurpose land and buildings for commercial, industrial, residential, and mixed-use projects.

Collaborate with the City to facilitate the opening, closing, or modification of streets and other public spaces to support development initiatives.

Receive and manage funding from federal, state, and local sources to finance development projects.

Market and promote Framingham as a prime destination for business investment, working to attract and retain employers.

Mayor Charlie Sisitsky Announces Re-Appointment Nomination to the Board of Assessors

Mayor Charlie Sisitsky has submitted the nomination of Megan Tolland for re-appointment to the City of Framingham Board of Assessors, filling a seat with a term ending June 30, 2029, pending City Council approval.

She brings more than three decades of experience as a Realtor, along with professional experience as a real estate appraiser. Her extensive knowledge of property valuation, assessment practices, and local market trends makes her a valuable asset to the Board.

Mayor Charlie Sisitsky has submitted nominations to the City Council to reappoint two dedicated members of the City of Framingham Disability Commission through June 30, 2029:

🔹 Catherine Cuddy (Precinct 3, District 19) – Chair of the Disability Commission for the past two years, Catherine has been a longtime advocate for people with disabilities, beginning her work in college by helping create resources for students balancing academic and personal challenges. She looks forward to continuing to support and advocate for Framingham residents with disabilities.

🔹 Dennis Moran (Precinct 19, District 3) – A strong advocate and dedicated public servant, Dennis has been a steady force on the Disability Commission and remains committed to advancing accessibility and inclusion for residents throughout Framingham.

A lane on Whittier Street approaching Route 30 is currently closed due to a collapsed drain manhole.

At this time, traffic is flowing normally and the closure does not appear to be causing significant delays.

Public Works is assessing the situation, investigating the extent of the damage, and coordinating the necessary repairs.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Please use caution when traveling through the area and follow all posted traffic controls. Thank you for your patience.
