โ„๏ธ Snow Day Safety Notice โ„๏ธ

We hope everyone is enjoying a safe snow day!

Please be advised that the County Commissioners have declared a State of Emergency for the county. At this time, emergency travel only is being recommended. If you do not have to be out, please stay home and off the roads.

If you must travel, the Francisco Volunteer Fire Department reminds you to keep these winter driving safety tips in mind:

๐Ÿš— Snow & Ice Driving Safety Tips

Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination

Increase following distance and avoid sudden braking

Use gentle acceleration and turns to prevent skidding

Make sure your vehicle lights are on and visible

Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle (blankets, flashlight, phone charger)

If roads look unsafe, donโ€™t risk itโ€”turn around and stay safe

Your safety is our top priority. Please make smart decisions, look out for one another, and call 911 in case of an emergency.

Stay safe and warm,
Francisco Volunteer Fire Department ๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿš’โ„๏ธ Winter Weather Safety โ€“ From Your Fire Department โ„๏ธ๐Ÿš’

Winter weather can turn everyday situations into emergencies. Our firefighters want to remind you to take a few extra precautions to stay safe this season:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn
๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Never use ovens, grills, or generators to heat your home
๐Ÿš— Slow down on snowy and icy roads โ€” arrive alive
๐ŸงŠ Watch for ice on sidewalks, steps, and driveways
๐Ÿงค Dress in warm layers and limit time outdoors in extreme cold
๐Ÿ”‹ Make sure smoke alarms and CO detectors are working
๐Ÿค Check on elderly neighbors and those who may need assistance

Taking a few minutes to prepare can prevent a call we donโ€™t want to respond to. Stay safe, stay warm, and remember โ€” weโ€™re always here when you need us. ๐Ÿš’โค๏ธ
