“Skittles” has been returned home safe !! Thanks Everyone !
This young lady went on “walkabout” today in the location of Harvard Street and has found her way to FPD. If anyone knows the owner please have them reach out to Grafton Dispatch or direct to FPD, we don’t monitor FB. Attention Franconia residents, especially the parents in our community! It appears as new recreational technologies advance we at FPD find ourselves along with many other towns and cities having to deal with the advancement of Electric Motorized Vehicles. Now you all know I’m a “Live Free or Die” kind of guy, however we at Franconia PD cannot idly stand by as these youngsters risk their safety and the safety of our community. So, PARENTS here is some info for you so you can potentially deal with this issue “in house”. Preferably in your house, not ours. The problem is we have unlicensed juveniles operating OHRV (electric Dirtbikes- not E-bikes see chart) on a public way, unsafely, while not stopping for police (see video of speedy, wheelie through 4-way intersection). We have received many complaints from residents who have witnessed this behavior and we hear you. Unfortunately, I believe that it is a matter of time before one of these kids gets seriously hurt or killed riding like this and I don’t want to see that in our community. I don’t think I could handle that notification, as I have known many of these families for a long time now. Therefore, FPD will be doing what we can to hold anyone operating one of these off-road recreational vehicles, on a public way, accountable for their actions. When appropriate we will be seizing the bike, in addition to any legal action such as a Child In Need Of Services Petition “CHINS”. I am hoping that our community can self-regulate the actions of their children for their own safety, but we will do our jobs. It is our responsibility to keep all our residents safe. Thanks for reading and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
