Originally formed in 1968 to staff the Bavarian Festival, The Frankenmuth Police Departments Mounted Unit was disbanded in the Mid 1990's. In it's place a Reserve Unit was formed. The Reserve Unit no longer rides on horses it continues to staff the numerous festivals that the City of Frankenmuth hosts each year.
