Last night, FFD along with Mobile Medical Response was recognized for our efforts that ultimately lead to a survivor of a cardiac arrest event, right here in Frankenmuth. Between Saginaw and Tuscola Counties there were 23 survivor stories shared, proving that rapid CPR and AED defibrillation saves lives!
The Saginaw Tuscola Medical Control Authority has of the highest survival rates in the state of Michigan, thanks to aggressive and progressive care of cardiac arrest.
Pictured is just a few of the members of the team that came together that night to save a life. Not pictured are the other six firefighters, two Frankenmuth Police Department officers and the Saginaw 911 dispatcher who first took the call.

Re: Detached Garage Fire Incident.

Garage Fire Damages home in Frankenmuth

The Frankenmuth Fire Department was called to a detached garage fire near a home at 8:33 P.M. on Saturday evening, May 9, 2026 in the 500 blk. Geyer Street.

Fire Chief Phillip Kerns advised that upon arrival, flames and heavy smoke were coming from the garage and starting the siding of the adjacent house on fire. No one was injured and the occupants discovered the fire and exited the home when seeing smoke coming from the garage. Frankenmuth fire crews were on scene for nearly three hours and able to contain the fire to the concrete garage structure, which was heavily damaged. The home suffered some superficial damage as well.

The fire appears to be accidental and the cause remains under investigation. Frankenmuth Police Department and Mobile Medical Response assisted at the fire and 18 Frankenmuth firefighters reported to the call. Birch Run Township Fire Department also stood by at their station until Frankenmuth was clear from the scene.
