The Kentucky Department of Corrections Reentry Services is doing incredible work to support individuals transitioning back into their communities after incarceration. These take-home bags provide essential hygiene items, naloxone, and recovery resources to help support safer and healthier reentry. KORE is proud to partner with DOC Reentry Services to support this important initiative. Recovery happens in communities, and small acts of support can make a meaningful difference.

On Wednesday November 19th, the Advisory Committee on the Need for Services for Individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing recognized David Brumett, KORE’s Recovery Implementation Specialist, as a 2025 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Champion. His steadfast commitment to making recovery accessible to all helped drive Recovery Community Centers (RCCs) across the Commonwealth to lead the way in welcoming individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. His commitment to excellence makes all of us better providers.

Additionally, Recovery Café – Lexington, one of the 15 RCCs KORE funds, was recognized as a 2025 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services Champion. Through KORE funding, they served as a pilot site to embed a Deaf Peer Support Specialist into their RCC to provide recovery coaching. They also have a weekly Recovery Circle with American Sign Language interpreters available. Recovery Café – Lexington continues to be a great example of creating a space that is welcoming to all.

The Kentucky Overdose Response Effort (KORE) supports 15 Recovery Community Centers (RCCs), located in 13 counties across the Commonwealth. RCCs provide crucial community-based recovery services including recovery coaching, mutual aid and support group meetings, lifesaving resources, and opportunities to connect with others in recovery.

David Brumett, KORE’s Recovery Implementation Specialist, will be leading a panel discussion featuring several RCC leaders at the upcoming Recovery Summit. The panel will highlight recovery support services offered at RCCs, best practices in supporting all recovery pathways, and creative strategies to engage communities.

Celebrating Excellence in Recovery Advocacy!

We are proud to share that David Brumett, a KORE Recovery Implementation Specialist, was honored with the 2025 Recovery Advocate Award from Voices of Hope Lexington at this year’s Voices of Hope Peer Conference!

The Recovery Advocacy Awards celebrate individuals and community partners who exemplify exceptional leadership in promoting recovery through advocacy, public education, and community engagement.

David’s passion, leadership, and commitment to breaking down stigma and supporting recovery across Kentucky inspires us all. His work reminds us that advocacy is more than raising awareness-it’s about building pathways to hope and healing.

Thank you Kentucky!

Our 2025 Recovery Rally was an incredible day filled with hope, healing and community. Nearly 100 resource booths, inspiring speakers, powerful messages and thousands of voices came together to remind us that recovery is possible, and that no one walks this journey alone.

Special thanks to Moon Portable Restrooms Inc. for donating portable toilets and hand-washing stations, Recovery Cafe Lexington who provided volunteers to help with logistics and hospitality, and The Walker House for donating golf carts and drivers to assist with transporting visitors from the garage to the event.

From our volunteers and vendors to every single person who showed up-you made this day a true celebration of recovery. Together, we are building a stronger, more compassionate Kentucky.

This Labor Day, we honor the hard work, resilience, and strength of Kentuckians everywhere.

Recovery is work too-the daily labor of healing, rebuilding, and choosing hope. Let's also stand with those who put in the work of recovery every single day.

We'll be lifting up that resilience on Friday at the 2025 Recovery Rally at the Kentucky State Capitol. Join us to honor recovery.
