Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources - Law Enforcement Division Communications will be routed to the appropriate staff member.

Kentucky conservation officers are sworn peace officers who enforce all laws of the commonwealth, with a primary focus on fishing, hunting, trapping, boating, and commercial uses of fish or wildlife. Conservation officers work tirelessly alongside our fisheries and wildlife professionals on private and public lands and waters to help restore, protect, and conserve fish and wildlife. Because our na

tive wildlife and fishes can’t speak up for themselves—neither in the wilds nor in a court of law—they depend on our vigilant watch-care. The Law Enforcement Division’s policing of commercial uses of wildlife and fish, helps to protect the delicate balance between conservation and sustainable use of these vital public resources. Conservation officers pursue those who violate Kentucky’s laws and thereby disregard the principles of fair chase and ethical stewardship --- the poachers whose illegal take of fish and wildlife steals opportunity from everyone who enjoys these creatures legally. In early February, Game Wardens and other KDFWR staff participated in the annual Green Wing Adventure in Western Kentucky. The annual event is offered to randomly selected youth who have attended our summer camps and received all their activity patches. This year, eighteen youths participated in the hunt, learning about duck identification and duck hunting safety. A great time was had by all! Pictured is Warden Tayler Davis and the young lady he mentored on the hunt. Warden Davis participated in the event when he was a youth, and this ultimately led him to want to pursue a career as a Kentucky Game Warden!

Wrapping up flood restoration efforts last week required the collaboration of many organizations, including the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement. A big thank you to their officers for boating our crew across the water to otherwise inaccessible areas so they could do work needed to restore several customers in Leslie County.
