Last week, Flight Club 502 honored students who are part of the Shawnee Aviation Program by hosting the Shawnee Aviation White Scarf Ceremony!

Students in the aviation program can pursue their Private Pilot Certificate and obtain their Part 107 Drone Certificate. Students were also given the opportunity to take the class at the local general aviation airport, Bowman Field, at the Flight Club 502 facility!

A special shoutout to The Academy of Shawnee, JCPS, Flight Club 502, and all other partners for their commitment and dedication to helping these students achieve this goal.

The Department of Aviation pilots support multiple agencies throughout the state. This season, we are working alongside the Division of Forestry to support ongoing firefighting efforts.

This past weekend, the department assisted with wildfire detection in the Daniel Boone National Forest with more than 80 personnel on scene!

Early aerial detection and support are critical in situations like this, helping crews quickly assess fire behavior, improve response time, and ultimately protect lives, property, and Kentucky’s natural resources.

We’re proud to support our partners in protecting our communities and keeping them safe. 🤝🔥
