🚨🚨 PSA 🚨🚨

Earlier this afternoon, we responded to Maple Lane for a report of a domestic incident with an armed barricaded person. The barricade was proven to be false and there is no threat to public safety at this time; the investigation is on-going.

Thank you to the NYSP, Ilion Police Department, Herkimer County 911 dispatchers and MOVAC for the assistance and swift response to the scene!

The Town Highway Department is paving on McGowen Road. McGowen Road will be open to local traffic only from Avery Road to Joslin Hill Road. Please avoid the area if possible.

🚨🚨🚨Arrest notification🚨🚨🚨

On July 29th, 2026 Frankfort Police were dispatched to a reported physical domestic incident. Upon arrival officers began to investigate and learned the male suspect, Carl R. Latella of Frankfort, had fled the scene prior to officers arrival. Through their investigation it was learned Latella had subjected the protected party of an order of protection to unwanted physical contact and fled in a vehicle without the owner’s consent. A few hours later the victim involved contacted 911 and advised Latella had returned to the area, however was now fleeing on foot. Responding officers searched the area and located Latella on foot. Latella was then taken into custody without incident. During the search incident to arrest, Latella was found to be in possession of a substantial amount of a white powdery substance, that later field tested positive for co***ne, and several prescription pills. Latella was transported to the Town of Frankfort Police Department and processed on charges of Criminal Contempt in the 1st degree (Class E Felony), Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree (Class A Misdemeanor), and Harassment in the 2nd degree (Violation). Latella was arraigned in Herkimer County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility on no bail, due to having prior felony convictions.

Upon his return date to the Town of Frankfort Court, Latella was subsequently also charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree (Class C Felony), one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree (Class A Misdemeanor), and Possessing a Controlled Substance not in its Original Container (Violation). Although there is probable cause for arrest of the aforementioned subject, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Deputy Town Clerk/Full - Time:

The Town of Frankfort Town Clerk/Tax Collector is accepting applications from candidates interested in applying for the appointed Full-Time Deputy Town Clerk position at the Town Clerk/Tax Collector’s Office. (Town of Frankfort Residency is Required)

IMPORTANT POINTS :

1. The Town Clerk's Office is frequently considered the center of town government and the connection between government and the public. Thousands of people contact the office annually for a variety of reasons. As the center of information, the Town Clerk provides the public with a variety of services. The Town Clerk has one Deputy, who assists with virtually every aspect of the office.

2. Not only does the town clerk’s office assist the public, but works closely with each town department on a daily basis.

3. There are only two employees in the town clerk’s office: the town clerk and the deputy. The interested applicant must consider that there will be instances when the deputy will have to do a board meeting and take the minutes and be working alone and maintaining the office independently. The deputy will not be left alone until he/she feels comfortably trained.

Essential Job Functions:

• Extensive public contact requires excellent communication, interpersonal skills, customer service, independent judgement, and professionalism.
• Perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and data entry functions, basic accounting; strong organizational and technical skills.
• Respecting confidentiality of records, including but not limited to birth, death and marriage records.
Knowledge/Qualifications
• Excellent communication skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow workers, municipal officials, and the general public in a helpful, courteous manner.
• Competent skills with English grammar and spelling
• Computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Adobe, writing form letters, and email are essential. Knowledge of standard office equipment.
• Ability to multi-task in a work setting with multiple distractions/interruptions and the ability to adapt to changes.
• Basic knowledge of principles and practices of accounting
• Experience in cash handling.
• Skilled in telephone etiquette.
Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Administrative support and/or customer service experience.
• Town of Frankfort residency required.

On May 16th, 2026 Town of Frankfort Police, MOVAC, and Frankfort Fire Department were dispatched to Joslin Hill Rd for report of a serious personal injury motorcycle crash. Upon arrival a male, later identified as Jacob R. Trevor of Frankfort, was located unresponsive. Trevor was rendered aid by first responders and later transported to Wynn Hospital in critical condition.

Trevor was released from the hospital at a later date, and after a lengthy investigation was charged on July 7th, 2026 with Driving while intoxicated, Aggravated driving while intoxicated (BAC greater than .18%), and Driving while ability impaired by combination of drugs and alcohol. Trevor was processed at the Frankfort Police Department and released on traffic tickets, ordering him to appear in Frankfort Town Court at a later time.
