OPSEC Reminder
Recent global events and rising tensions involving Iran serve as an important reminder that operational security (OPSEC) begins with every Soldier, Airman, and family member.
Adversaries often gather information through open sources, including social media. Even seemingly harmless posts can reveal details about unit movements, training schedules, locations, or mission readiness. Protecting this information helps safeguard our personnel, our families, and our operations. Military guidance consistently warns that sharing details such as locations, timelines, or mission information online can unintentionally create risks for service members and their missions.
All Kentucky National Guard members are encouraged to take a moment to review their online presence and follow basic OPSEC practices:
🔹 Do not post deployment timelines, training schedules, or movement details
🔹 Avoid sharing unit locations, equipment, or operational activities
🔹 Think before you post – if it shouldn’t be on a billboard, it shouldn’t be online
🔹 Ensure family members understand OPSEC and what not to share
Your digital discipline is a critical line of defense for you, your family, and our force.
The Commonwealth of Kentucky continues to rely on its National Guard to be “Always Ready, Always There”. While there are no credible reports of imminent risk, we ask you to be mindful of your surroundings and the current global environment. If you see something, say something. Stay safe and take care of each other.
Stay vigilant. Protect the force.
