Dear Frankfort Friends,
After spending time with family and talking to supporters this past week in reflection of the campaign results, I wanted to extend my appreciation to the community for its consideration of my platform to lead Frankfort. During the past six months as I campaigned and talked about the issues facing Frankfort, I had the great fortune to meet so many new people and hear their many differing views. This was so inspirational to my efforts.
During my campaign, I was most impressed that the people of Frankfort shared the central theme which was their great passion for our community and their common support for its preservation. I also was appreciative that, in my opinion, both candidates stayed on the issues concerning Frankfort such as rising crime, taxes, development, school support, etc. I believe that each candidate offered his own views for the citizens to decide and stayed away from making the campaign personal. While my efforts clearly fell short and came with great disappointment, I am proud of being able to bring forth a fair discussion of what I see as real issues facing our community and allowing the people to at least have the information to choose their leadership in facing those issues going forward.
I want to also extend my congratulations to not only the candidates that won, but to those that demonstrated so much effort in the race itself. From my past experience serving on the Village of Frankfort Board, knowing the board members personally and respecting them, I wish them well in moving Frankfort forward for all of us. Besides my disappointment in not being able to guide our community’s future, I am saddened not to be able to work alongside the many professionals in our Village Hall, Public Works and Police Department. These are the people doing the amazing work on the citizens’ behalf on a daily basis for the benefit of Frankfort and they deserve our thanks.
I firmly believe that our community debate and the message that I delivered was heard by all those that were elected and at the very least will contribute to efforts to continue to make Frankfort a special place to live. Running for office, fundraising, exposing yourself to personal attacks by self-interests are difficult things to experience. However, when you have a deep-seated passion for something like my love for Frankfort, you look past the negatives and step forward to do what you believe in. To that I can say I did so and I will always be thankful to our Frankfort residents. Now it's time to move forward as a community as a whole in supporting our leadership and their efforts to accomplish our shared beliefs for Frankfort and its future.
