Frankfort Fire Protection District

Frankfort Fire Protection District Originally founded as a volunteer fire department in 1885, The Frankfort Fire Protection District was formed in 1962.

The district format allowed for increased funding which lead to the ability to provide Fire, EMS, and other services. The District serves a residential population of approximately 45,000 people, and covers 42 square miles. The District is a full time career department that staffs five fire stations. In Addition to Fire and Advanced Life Support EMS services, The District responds to Hazardous Mate

rials Spills, Technical Rescue incidents such as confined space, and has a Water Rescue/Dive team. Portions of the Village of Frankfort, Frankfort Township, Green Garden Township and a
portion of the Village of Mokena are contained within the district. The Frankfort Fire Protection District is a taxing governmental agency separate
from the Village of Frankfort.

This free, two-hour event welcomes individuals with disabilities and their family members for an afternoon of fun. Enjoy face painting and a balloon artist, and stop by to meet and chat with your Frankfort firefighters!

The Frankfort Fire Protection District invites you to join us on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Frankfort Fire Protection District 9/11 Memorial Garden as we gather to remember and reflect on the events of September 11, 2001.
Twenty-five years have passed since a day that forever changed our nation. Together, we will honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency responders, military personnel, and civilians whose courage, sacrifice, and service will never be forgotten.
We will also take this opportunity to remember and honor all fallen firefighters, law enforcement officers, first responders, and public safety personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities, as well as those whose lives were lost in the years following September 11 due to illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero and other recovery sites.
We invite our residents, families, first responders, veterans, and community members to stand with us in remembrance.

The Frankfort Fire Cadet Program would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Fire District Trustee Patricia Field and the Frankfort Flower Cottage for her continued support of our young men and women pursuing careers in the fire and emergency services.

Through her generosity, we have received THREE Needoh Advent Sets to raffle off during the Frankfort Fall Festival Carnival!
The Raffle begins Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and ends Monday, September 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., when the carnival closes.

Tickets are $5 each. Your support helps us provide our cadets with hands-on training, protective gear, educational opportunities, and scholarships for those continuing their education through fire academy, EMT, and paramedic programs.

These cadets are working toward becoming the next generation of firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics serving our communities. Every raffle ticket helps us invest in their training, education, and future.

WE REMAIN HERE FOR YOU

Our community has experienced severe weather and emergencies over the past week, causing significant damage throughout our neighborhoods. During the storm period, the Frankfort Fire Protection District responded to 51 calls for service.

Despite the challenges, there has been no interruption to emergency services. Our dedicated firefighters, paramedics, and staff remain ready and committed to serving and protecting our community around the clock.

Our hearts are with everyone affected by these storms. In difficult times like these, we are reminded of the strength of our community and the importance of neighbors helping neighbors.

Please continue to stay safe, look out for one another, and lend a hand where you can. Together, we will recover and move forward.

Last week, FFPD responded to a Frankfort home after carbon monoxide alarms alerted a family to dangerous CO levels. Thankfully, everyone was safe, and our crews were able to assist.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, colorless gas that can be deadly. Fuel-burning heating and cooking equipment, vehicles, and generators can all produce CO.

Stay safe: Install CO alarms outside each sleeping area and on every level of your home. Know the warning signs, including headache, dizziness, nausea and shortness of breath.

If your CO alarm sounds, get outside and call 911.

"ComEd was contacted multiple times via dispatch, but no utility crew was assigned to the scene" in the wake of severe storms, the fire district said. Five hours into battling the blaze, a firefighter found a ComEd crew member working in the area and requested a response for the downed live wires.
