Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet The business of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet is to educate, prepare and train Kentucky's current and future workforce.

Dedicated to preparing and training Kentucky's current and future workforce. As a bridge between the world of education and the world of work, the cabinet coordinates P-20 learning programs and manages and supports training and employment opportunities. The cabinet's work is wide-ranging, focusing on lifelong learning. From early childhood education to job training programs for adult workers, the

goal is to prepare Kentuckians for success at the next level - school ready, college and career ready, and work ready. Now more than ever, effective education and workforce development opportunities are critical to a strong economy. The Education and Labor Cabinet thrives on continuous improvement to create and education and workforce system that prepares Kentuckians for the 21st century workforce, while helping businesses find the skilled workers they need to compete and create jobs in the Commonwealth.

A huge congratulations are in order for this young lady. Three short weeks ago she spent her last day at the Perkins center as a cosmetology student, fulfilling the completion requirements. Since that time, she has taken and passed the tests to become a fully licensed cosmetologist!!! Excellent work!!! We are so proud of you, Ally!!! (Posted with her permission)

Carhartt’s Madisonville Cutting facility recently earned recognition from KYSAFE for workplace safety excellence.
Between July 20, 2006, and Dec. 31, 2023, employees worked more than 1.3 million consecutive hours without a workplace injury or illness resulting in lost time. John Clabaugh, safety program manager at the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet, presented a Governor’s Safety and Health award to company officials and employees at the plant July 18.
Alexander DiPhilippo, Carhartt public relations manager, credited associates and the safety department for the company’s continued success.
“This continued effort to provide a safe working environment is not possible without the mentality and desire of the hard-working associates looking out for each other and themselves to ensure we all go home safely every day.”

The Archives Research Room is getting a new look!! Unfortunately, this means will need to close for a few weeks beginning August 19th. We hope to reopen on Monday, September 9th, though services may be disrupted that week.

During this closure, staff will not have access to the microfilm collection. Please be aware that replies to orders of records will be delayed as a result.
