🚨 Strengthening Kentucky’s Cybersecurity—Together! 🚨

The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security (KOHS) was proud to host the annual Blue Team Summit here in Frankfort, KY. Bringing together IT and cybersecurity professionals from across the Commonwealth for a full day of hands-on learning and collaboration.

Some highlights of the summit included:
🔹 A Capture the Flag challenge
🔹 Hands-on demos of cutting-edge hacking tools
🔹 20+ sessions led by cybersecurity experts from the private sector and local, state, and federal agencies
🔹 Lots of networking opportunities

We were honored to have such a strong turnout and proud to support Kentucky’s local governments, communities, and critical infrastructure through events like this. We also want to extend our deepest appreciation for all those who volunteered their time to speak and teach at this event. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

Together, we’re building a safer, more resilient Kentucky. 💻🔐

🌙 The day isn’t over until you’re home safe. As Derby events conclude, remain alert while exiting venues and traveling home. Stay with your group, use well-lit routes, and avoid unnecessary risks. Fatigue and distractions can increase vulnerability, so take your time and prioritize safety. A safe trip home is the final step in a successful celebration.

🛡️ If you observe suspicious or unsafe activity while leaving events, report it to the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security:

🚗 Celebrate responsibly—plan your ride home. Derby celebrations often include food, drinks, and long days, but safety must remain a priority. If you plan to drink, do not drive. Arrange for a designated driver, use a rideshare service, or plan ahead with public transportation. Impaired driving puts lives at risk and can turn a celebration into a tragedy. Planning ahead ensures you and others make it home safely.

🛡️ If you witness impaired driving or unsafe transportation situations, report concerns to the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security:

👨‍👩‍👧 Attending with children? Take a moment to prepare. Large events can be overwhelming, especially for families. Before entering crowded areas, take a current photo of your child, establish a clear meeting point, and make sure they know how to identify event staff or law enforcement if they need help. These simple steps can make a critical difference if you become separated and help ensure a safe experience for everyone.

🛡️ If you encounter a missing child or safety concern involving families, notify authorities and report to the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security:

🤝 Safety starts with awareness—and respect. Effective reporting focuses on behaviors that raise concern, not a person’s race, religion, or appearance. Actions like attempting to bypass security, conducting surveillance, or leaving unattended items are what matter. Keeping this distinction clear helps protect civil rights while strengthening public safety efforts. When we focus on behavior, we build trust and safer communities for everyone.
