"How Information Literacy Supports Student Success, Retention, and Educational Progress"

This selection of KYVL resources serves to demonstrate the impact of information literacy instruction on students at varying educational levels. The inclusion of information literacy instruction in the student's educational experience serves to build key academic and workplace skills such as search skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and ethical use of sources.

The resources compiled underscore the correlation of information literacy instruction with academic success, improved retention and providing graduates a foundational skillset to carry out everyday information-seeking tasks and to advance knowledge in their chosen professions.

This bibliography was assembled by the KYVL Information Literacy Workgroup and is an ongoing project of the workgroup.

We had the best time at the KYVL training at McCreary County Public Library on September 9th. Librarians from Pulaski Co Public Library, Somerset Community College, Wayne County Public Library and McCreary County Schools were together for a 2 1/2 hour training on our K12 content, CTE and career/trade prep resources, and more to support their learners and communities.

If you would like to have Zoom training for your staff or have Enid coordinate a regional in-person training, please get in touch at [email protected] And always, let us know what you need.

Let's talk authentication options. Do you know we have various login options to access KYVL.org resources? We have different options depending on organization or library type.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS/STATE EMPLOYEES

For school districts and state government employees, we have email login. We can set up any school district with SSO for school email. State government employees can already use their ky dot gov email. We can set up email login for Microsoft or Google so students and staff can use their school email to login when away from the district network. Direct your DTC to kyvl.libwizard.com/f/sso for Google or https://kyvl.libwizard.com/f/azure for Azure for setup tutorials and instructions.

PUBLIC LIBRARIES

For public libraries, we offer library card login. We must set that up with information you provide. But once in place, your patrons can use their library card at KYVL.org to access the resources. Please work with your library's ILS IT support to complete this form to help us take next steps to get your library set up. https://kyvl.libwizard.com/f/sip

ALL KYVL MEMBERS

Our last option, for any KYVL member, from KDLA to public libraries, school districts, hospitals, and universities, we have an assigned KYVL login. One login per school district, or per public library, etc. The password changed in July and we overlap old and new for a few months. The current login has a “26” in the password and will be good through September 2026 Request your organization’s login here https://KYVL.org/pw You must use your school or work email that we recognize [we look at email domain such as fayette.kyschools.us or kentonlibrary.org].

IP AUTHENTICATION

KYVL members: please update your IP information with us. Our primary method of authentication is by IP address. Please check your IT people or ISP as to your current, static, public-facing IPs. Email [email protected] Thanks so much!
