This is the official page of the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA). The first actuarial valuation of SPRS was conducted June 30, 1959.

Currently, KPPA serves over 433,000 active, inactive and retired members and administers approximately $26.9 billion in assets. The Kentucky Employees Retirement System (KERS) was created in 1956 by the Kentucky General Assembly in order to supplement the benefits provided by Social Security. When the first actuarial valuation was completed June 30, 1957, there were 16,000 employees participating

in KERS and assets of $2.8 million. The State Police Retirement System (SPRS) and County Employees Retirement System (CERS) were established in 1958. No actuarial valuation of CERS was conducted until June 30, 1960 because the statutes did not authorize retirements from the system prior to July 1, 1960. On June 30, 1960, there were 68 counties and 2,617 employees participating in CERS, and SPRS included 415 uniformed state troopers.

What is Phishing?
KPPA has many levels of security protocols, but you play a significant role in securing your personal information. Scammers use emails to steal your passwords, account numbers, or Social Security numbers. If they get that information, they could get access to your email, bank, or other accounts or sell the information to others.

Emails may look like it’s from a company you know or trust, like a bank or a credit card or utility company. The email messages try to trick you into clicking on a link or opening attachments. The message might say:
• they have noticed suspicious activity or log-in attempts
• there is a problem with your account or payment information
• you need to confirm personal or financial information
• include an unrecognizable invoice
• you need to make a payment
• you are eligible for a government refund
• offer coupons for free stuff
• send you an invoice for work that you are not aware of
