This V-22 Osprey landed at Capital City Airport this morning. It can takeoff, land and hover like a helicopter. Once airborne, it can convert to an airplane. It’s always amazing to watch this aircraft fly.
This concludes another very successful Aviation Day at Capital City Airport. Thanks to all who participated and all who visited. Until next time...
Come to Capital City Airport before 5 PM today to see this historic aircraft. Please tell us what you think about it.
This Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (Aluminum Overcast) is currently at Capital City Airport and it will be on display Tuesday, May 22nd from 10 AM – 5 PM. The B-17 is a four-engine heavy bomber developed in the 1930s for the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC). As of now, nine of these aircraft remain airworthy. This aircraft is a must see. Come out and take a look.
Friends and family gathered at the Capital City Airport this morning to say farewell to the Soldiers assigned to B Company, 2nd Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment of the Kentucky Army National Guard. The UH-60 “Blackhawk” helicopter unit is headed to Fort Hood, Texas where they will prepare for their deployment overseas. They will deploy to the Middle East this summer and are expected to spend nine months overseas. We honor these aviation soldiers as they answer our nation's call and we wish them safe travels.
