BREAKING: KY House has passed HB495, a “Conversion Torture” bill, but changed it substantially. HB495 no longer includes far-reaching language that encourages medical malpractice by licensed mental healthcare professionals. But it does invalidate Governor Beshear’s strong Executive Order banning the deadly practice in KY.

SB 89 has passed in the Senate. We must stop it in the House!

According to the Kentucky Resources Council, SB 89 would narrow the definition of “waters of the Commonwealth” to exclude non-navigable streams and groundwater, eliminating protections for thousands of miles of headwater streams that slow floodwaters, filter pollution, and support aquatic ecosystems. It would also remove protections for groundwater, a drinking water source for over 2 million Kentuckians and a vital resource for our farmers.

This will have devastating consequences:
-More pollution in our rivers and lakes
-Higher treatment costs for our city and county water systems
-Increased pollution control costs for industries downstream
-Damage to recreation, fish, and wildlife

We ALL live downstream, and what happens upstream affects us all. Tell your state representative to vote NO on SB 89 and defend Kentucky’s right to clean water.
