Help us welcome our AmeriCorps Educators, Paige Beichler and Jennifer Turner! Paige is working with preschool - elementary students throughout the region, leading ecology, waste reduction, and water quality learning experiences. Jennifer is working primarily at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary, developing programs and field trip opportunities. We are thrilled to have them on the team and can't wait to see how they continue to elevate our youth environmental education programs!

At Buckley, we're committed to preserving the beauty and balance of our natural environment. Our sanctuary is home to a thriving community of native grasses that provide vital habitat and food for local wildlife. These native species help support biodiversity and keep our ecosystems healthy!

But that's not all – we're also developing plans to remove invasive species that threaten our natural landscapes. Invasive plants can outcompete native vegetation, disrupting ecosystems and reducing habitat for wildlife. Through careful management and restoration efforts, we’re working to ensure our grounds stay a safe haven for native flora and fauna.

These goals are within reach, but not without your help! Get ready for the GoodGiving challenge December 3rd-6th! You can be part of the celebration by giving to your favorite nonprofit (us! 😜). Stay tuned for more information!

Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary's trails will be closed to the public from Thursday, November 7th until Monday, November 24th. This closure coincides with the modern gun season for deer. Though public hunting is not permitted on the sanctuary property, it borders land that is actively hunted. Please stay off the trails during this time for your safety.

Big news, everyone! We’ve officially moved to our new home at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary! After lots of planning and hard work, we’re excited to expand our conservation efforts and enhance your experience. From field trips to community education classes, we can’t wait to share this journey with you!

We were excited to welcome families this month for our Tree-mendous Trees program, Herps and Habitats Hike, and Bats program! We invite you to visit the sanctuary for a fall hike, follow the Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary page, and keep an eye out as we share additional program and field trip opportunities onsite.

Bluegrass Greensource will continue to facilitate outreach environmental education lessons, workshops, and events throughout Central Kentucky. We will also continue to sell rain barrels and operate our Resource Library (with materials pick up locations in Lexington and at Buckley)!

Come explore our new space and see all the wonderful things we have in store. Thank you for your continued support!
