We need YOUR help at Buckley this month! 🥾

Join us September 12, 18, and 27 as we roll up our sleeves for some summer maintenance around the sanctuary. Together, we'll tackle meaningful projects that help keep this special place thriving, including maintaining trails, caring for native plantings, removing invasive species, and enhancing wildlife habitat.

Whether you're a longtime volunteer or joining us for the first time, we'd love to have you on the team. It's a great way to spend time outdoors, connect with nature, and make a lasting impact in our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last week for our Guided Mushroom Walk with Joe Lacefield from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. We were thrilled to see such a great turnout as participants explored Buckley’s trails, learned to identify local fungi, and discovered the important role mushrooms play in healthy ecosystems.

From fascinating finds along the trail to great conversations about the natural world, it was a fun and educational experience for all ages. A special thank you to Joe for sharing his expertise and helping us uncover the hidden wonders of Buckley!

Discover the fascinating world of fungi at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary 🍄

Join us on July 29 from 9 AM–Noon for a guided mushroom walk led by Joe Lacefield, Field Biologist with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. Explore Buckley’s trails, learn how to identify common mushrooms, and uncover the important role fungi play in our ecosystems.

This event is free to attend, and a suggested donation of $5 is appreciated to help support environmental education and conservation programs at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary.

Wear weather-appropriate clothing and tick repellent, bring plenty of water, and pack a lunch to enjoy at the pavilion after the walk!

We are SO grateful to Elkhorn Mill and Mulch and the Woodford County Extension Master Gardeners for helping us kickstart a new pollinator garden! 🐝🐞🦋

Last week, Bluegrass Greensource hosted a Fishing Night at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary, bringing together more than 35 adults and children for an evening of outdoor recreation, learning, and community connection! 🎣

Whether casting a line for the first time or sharing their experience as seasoned anglers, attendees of all ages had the opportunity to connect with nature and learn more about local aquatic ecosystems.

A special thank you to the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources for providing fishing poles, hands-on instruction, and tutorials that helped participants enjoy a successful fishing experience!

We look forward to seeing everyone again at Buckley's future programs and events!

Bluegrass Greensource invites you to a hands-on volunteer opportunity at Buckley! ☀

Join us on June 13th, 15th, and the 29th as we roll up our sleeves for some big, meaningful projects around the sanctuary. We’ll be refreshing our gardens, planting native species to support local wildlife, removing invasive plants that threaten our ecosystems, and maintaining trails so everyone can continue to enjoy the beauty of our grounds.

Due to high water levels and unsafe river conditions following this week’s rain, Bluegrass Greensource is postponing Riverfest until next weekend to ensure the safety of all participants.

We hope you’ll join us next Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM at the Clifton Boat Ramp (15 Old Clifton Rd, Versailles, KY) 🚣‍♀️
