It’s been an honor for our crews to lend a helping hand to communities in North Carolina recovering from the devastating damage caused by Hurricane Helene. We’re so grateful to welcome back home our highway heroes just in time for Thanksgiving! And we are grateful for everyone who served over the past two months alongside the North Carolina Department of Transportation to restore a sense of normalcy to families in affected areas. #TeamKentucky

Grateful for Gov. Andy Beshear’s help cutting the ribbon on a new Muhlenberg County Airport hangar last week that’s part of Team Kentucky’s $2.1 million investment in the Madisonville Community College’s flight school project to help students chase their aviation dreams! When Matt Maggard’s family was impacted by the Eastern Kentucky floods in 2022, he saw firsthand the strength that comes from community support. Now, as North Carolina recovers from the aftermath of a devastating hurricane, Matt helped pay it forward, offering his help to those in need—just as others did for him. 💙 Watch his story and see how kindness brings us all together in times of crisis. 🙌

Thanks to highway crews from all corners of Kentucky for their willingness to help North Carolinians recover from flooding and storm damage in the wake of Hurricane Helene. More than 200 Kentucky crew members joined forces this month with the 2,000 employees at North Carolina DOT who are coordinating a multibillion-dollar restoration effort that includes reopening 400 roads and cleanup of 7,500 damage sites where Kentucky crews are lending a hand.
We know our crews don’t do this for the recognition, but they’ve certainly earned it. Learn more about their mission in this video or read about it in today’s news release at https://transportation.ky.gov/NewsRoom/KYTC%20'Highway%20Heroes'%20Help%20NCDOT%20Rebuild%20Roads.pdf.

Argillite Elementary Turn Lanes
Parents, teachers, and bus drivers are enjoying a safer, more pleasant dropoff and pickup experience this school year thanks to a completed highway safety project in Greenup County.
🚗🚌 Argillite Elementary, for the first time, now has two new dedicated turn lanes to get in and out of the school property more safely while freeing up thru traffic to pass on by if not going to the school. It’s a win-win for all!
And we’re not done—this marks our 44th school safety project, with nearly 20 more on the way. 🏫🚧
