When Kentucky statehood followed in 1792, Frankfort had the privilege of becoming the capital of the new state. The City of Frankfort currently has a population of approximately 27,000. Don't forget about our grand opening and ribbon cutting Tomorrow at East Frankfort Park at 5pm!

The City of Frankfort and Frankfort Parks and Recreation will proudly cut the ribbon on the newly renovated pickleball and tennis courts at East Frankfort Park! Made possible by a $250,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant, the project brought 6 new pickleball courts, 1 new tennis court, a new ½ basketball court, improved parking, and ADA accessibility upgrades to our community.

Join us on Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:00pm for the official ribbon cutting!

Courts are open to the public dawn to dusk, come play!

The City of Frankfort in partnership with Liberty Hall Historic Site and Downtown Frankfort Inc present Liberty Hall-er, an America250 Music Festival. This free event is open to the public and funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

FEATURING Cole Chaney, the Local Honeys, and Hancock and Shouse

Friday, July 3, 2-10 PM
Liberty Hall Historic Site, Ward Oates Amphitheatre, and Riverview Park

This is a FREE music festival, no tickets required. Family friendly event with live music, activities, and food and drink trucks (food and beverage for purchase). Restroom facilities, refillable water stations, and shade stops will be available throughout the event. The event is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Parking will be available throughout downtown and in the city's parking garages.

No coolers, backpacks or pets will be permitted at this event. Authorized vendors only, interested vendors can reach out to [email protected].

Nonprofits/Tax-Exempt Entities (including religious institutions)
Governmental Entities (not the City of Frankfort)
Public Institutions
Business Tenants (with property owner approval)
For-Profit Developers

The city will open the application process for the HIP sub grants June 1 and applications will be accepted until August 17. Eligible participants must attend a mandatory informational meeting with the city. A total of six meetings are scheduled, participants only need to attend one of the six.

The City of Frankfort is proud to be one of 17 recipients of the Paul Bruhn Historic Rehabilitation Grant Program. These grants support economic development through the preservation of historic buildings in rural communities across the country.

With this funding, the City has established a city-administered physical preservation grant program for nonprofit (including religious organizations), commercial, educational, and private residential property owners of historic structures in Frankfort, called the Historic Investment Program (HIP).

Eligible properties in Frankfort will be on the National Register of Historic Places or confirmed as a contributing property. The city’s Historic Preservation Officer will be able to confirm eligible properties.
