We had a great time today at NKU, giving students a firsthand look at the dangers of impaired driving.

Experiencing the effects in a safe, controlled environment is an eye-opener—reminding us all why driving sober is the only option.

Thanks to everyone who participated and took the time to learn about road safety!

Crews out in all counties treating and plowing roads. Please stay home if you can and give our snowfighters plenty of space to do their work. Flooded roads will also impact snowplow routes and could freeze, creating an unexpected hazard. Never drive around cones or barriers. Closures at GoKY.ky.gov. East-Central and North-Central Kentucky have a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 7 PM EST tonight (Feb. 18, 2025) to noon EST Wednesday. The National Weather Service expects accumulations of 3 to 5 inches of snow.

In addition to snow, many areas of the state are still experiencing flooding. Please use caution while traveling.

🚧 Turn Around, Don’t Drown. 🚧

🔷 Never drive through flooded roads – just a few inches of water can sweep a vehicle away.
🔶 Do not drive around barricades – they are there for your safety.
🔷 Avoid driving at night in flooded areas – it’s harder to judge water depth.
🔶 Wet roads + freezing temps = black ice risk, especially on bridges and overpasses.
🔷 Snow and ice can hide flood damage like washed-out roads or debris.
🔶 Slow down, increase following distance, and watch for ice patches and flooded roadways.
🔷 Pack an emergency kit with blankets, snacks, a flashlight, and a phone charger.

Please stay safe, Kentucky, and let’s look out for one another. 💙

Heavy Rain = High Risk

Flooding is happening across the state, making roads dangerous. Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. Just a few inches of water can sweep your car away.

⚠️ Never drive through standing water.
⚠️ Watch for road closures and updates.
⚠️ Take it slow—wet roads mean less traction.

Stay safe, stay aware, and don’t take chances. Your destination can wait.
