On Saturday, October 25th, we hosted a children's program in the community room from 11am. - 1pm. We were so glad to have those who attended! All of our staff here at the library would like to thank everyone who attended and who volunteered their time/resources. Adult volunteers enjoyed themselves and took a little time off from "adulting". These "children at heart included: Bernie Lambert, Lori Woods, Mary Hedrick, and Walt Johnson.

The event included crafts, a showing of the movie "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," and lunch. A special thanks goes out to Tim Hamilton from "Sweet Treats" who provided hot dogs, chips, cookies, and a new creation for those present at no charge. The food was great, and we appreciate the time and generosity that went into providing this! Tim will have a food booth at the Valley Mall in Harrisonburg on weekends in November and December. Stop by and thank him for his support of the children if you can.

This event was also funded by The Friends of the Library fundraising group, whom we are forever grateful to.

Stay tuned for any upcoming events in the near future!

Here is Mary Hedrick, library volunteer extraordinaire, this past Wednesday, ready to give out treats during the Main Street Trick-or-Treating event for pre-k and kindergarten students from F.E.S. The library staff made the goodie bags, and each of the 51 students received a free book.

A special thanks goes to the Friends of the Library group, who funded the library's costs!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, there is an update to the previously posted “History Alive” event.

See how "history lives" Sunday, November 2nd (for free) in the community room of the library at 2pm, as JoAnn Peterson will act as the first woman Cabinet member and U.S. Secretary of Labor, Frances Perkins.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Pendleton County Library fundraising organization and the Pendleton County Committee for the Arts, "History Alive" is a program of the West Virginia Humanities Council.

Hope to see you then!
