The Sussex County Office of Mosquito Control is reporting the detection of West Nile virus in mosquito populations within Franklin Borough.

Our surveillance program remains fully active, and mosquito control operations are being conducted in areas where virus activity has been detected.

All residents are urged, regardless of their proximity to the detections, to take preventive measures, as avoiding mosquito bites is the most effective way to protect oneself from mosquito-borne disease. We encourage you to share the attached flyer with your residents to help them take the necessary steps for prevention.

For more information, please visit our website at www.sussex.nj.us. For questions regarding these detections, contact of the Sussex County Office of Mosquito Control office at 973-940-5225, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM (excluding holidays).

A raccoon from Church Street has been found to be positive for rabies.
Please note, one positive raccoon does not mean every wild animal out there is positive.
DO NOT interact with wildlife. If a wild animal is acting peculiar, residents are advised to contact the Franklin Police Department or Animal Control (973-764-7751).
If testing is required, they will contact the health department.
The rabies page on the Sussex County website, also, has a wealth of information. Go to www.sussex.nj.us
