🚒Meet Your Heroes🚑—Employee Spotlight📢: Firefighter/AEMT, Lynn Hyatt
This month, we're proud to introduce Firefighter/AEMT Lynn Hyatt, who has been serving our community for the past 1 year and 3 months. Lynn's dedication to emergency medical care is evident in everything she does. She holds numerous certifications, including BLS, ALS, PALS, Firefighter I, Hazmat Operations, Hazmat Awareness, ABLS, and EVOC, all of which have helped prepare her to provide exceptional care to those who need it most. When asked what she considers her biggest contribution to the department, her answer reflected exactly why she chose this profession: "Patient care. I love being on the ambulance and helping those in need." That servant's heart and genuine compassion have made her a valued member of the Heard County Fire & Emergency Services family.
One accomplishment that stands out to Lynn was graduating from recruit school as the only female in her rookie class. Through every demanding workout, physical training session, and challenging day, she proved she belonged right alongside her fellow recruits. "I hung in there with the guys through all the hard work, PT, and sweat, and I showed them that I deserved to be here and could pull my own weight." Her determination and perseverance continue to inspire those around her.
For Lynn, one of the best parts of the job is the strong sense of family within the department. She enjoys spending time with her shift, especially gathering around the table to share meals together. She also looks forward to department cookouts because they strengthen the friendships and camaraderie that make Heard County Fire & Emergency Services such a close-knit team. Training is another favorite, as she appreciates every opportunity to sharpen her skills and ensure she's always prepared to respond when someone calls for help.
Lynn has ambitious goals for the future and is well on her way to achieving them. She is currently three-quarters of the way through Paramedic school and looks forward to earning her Paramedic license after graduating in December 2026. After that, she plans to continue advancing her fire service education through additional fire training and hopes to one day serve her community in another capacity by becoming involved with the Coroner's Office as a coroner.
Outside of work, Lynn enjoys reading books, paddle boarding, spending time with her family, and traveling whenever she gets the chance. She especially enjoys visiting the beach and the mountains, where she can relax, recharge, and make lasting memories with those she loves. She also admits that she genuinely enjoys working and finds fulfillment in taking care of people and helping others, both on and off the job.
Family is at the center of Lynn's life. She and her husband, Wayne, have been married for 10 years and are raising three wonderful children: Gracy (8), Havana (7), and Waylyn (6). Their busy household keeps life exciting, and spending quality time together is something she treasures.
One fun fact about Lynn is her love for spontaneous beach trips. "I really enjoy taking an impromptu trip to the beach—even if it's just for one day or one night. It helps clear my mind." That adventurous spirit, combined with her compassion, determination, and dedication to serving others, makes Lynn an outstanding member of our department.
