🧠 Know the Signs of a Stroke 🚑

A stroke can happen quickly, and recognizing the warning signs can make a major difference.

Remember BE FAST:

B – Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination
E – Eyes: Sudden vision changes
F – Face: Facial droop or uneven smile
A – Arms: Arm weakness or numbness
S – Speech: Slurred or unusual speech
T – Time: Call 911 immediately

If you notice any of these symptoms, don’t wait to see if they improve. Call 911 so treatment can begin as quickly as possible.

Knowing the signs could help save a life.

Yesterday, two of our EMS Duty Officers represented the Bargersville Community Fire Department at the Franciscan Health EMS Education Career Fair.

They had the opportunity to meet with students preparing to enter the EMS profession, answer questions, and talk about careers in emergency services.

Water Rescue Training

So far this month, crews from all three shifts have spent time on the water completing boat operations training.

Update on Injured Bargersville Fire Lieutenant

We are pleased to share a positive update on the Bargersville Community Fire Department Lieutenant who was injured Monday morning while returning from a mutual aid response.

The Lieutenant underwent successful surgery yesterday and is recovering at an Indianapolis hospital with his family. His medical team reports that the procedure went well, and a full recovery is expected.

The Lieutenant and his family have expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the tremendous amount of support, messages, and kindness they have received since the incident.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and continues to keep him and his family in their thoughts.

Bargersville Lieutenant Injured While Returning From Mutual Aid Response

This morning, a Bargersville Community Fire Department Lieutenant was injured while Rescue 201 was returning to the district following a mutual aid water rescue in Madison Township.

At approximately 7:56 a.m., Rescue 201 was approaching the roundabout at State Road 144 and Kitchen Road when the crew encountered a fallen tree along the roadway. A branch extending into the roadway entered through the open officer-side window of the apparatus and struck the Lieutenant in the chest.

The Lieutenant was transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition. No other members of the crew were injured.

The Lieutenant is with family and fire department representatives. We ask that everyone respect their privacy as they continue to receive care.

We appreciate the support that has already been extended to our department and our injured Lieutenant.

Engine 202 and Rescue 201 were dispatched to the area of 144 and Smokey Row Road in Morgan County to assist with evacuation efforts due to flooding.

Both companies have since cleared the scene and are currently back in service.

Please Use Caution Around Flooded Roadways

Good morning, everyone. Since approximately 5:30 this morning, Bargersville firefighters have responded to two separate water rescues involving vehicles stranded in floodwaters.

With the recent heavy rain that has moved through the area, please use extra caution while driving. Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Water can be deeper than it appears, and conditions can change quickly.

If you encounter water covering the road, turn around and find another route.

Please slow down, stay alert, and give yourself a little extra time this morning.
