Franklin High School would like to congratulate Assistant Principal Dan Gibson on being named Macon County Schools’ Assistant Principal of the Year!

Mr. Gibson, who also serves as our Assistant Athletic Director, is the definition of a team player. He consistently goes above and beyond for our students, staff, and school and is always willing to step in wherever he is needed.

Mr. Gibson does a-lot behind the scenes—and he will never be the one to take credit for it. He takes tremendous pride in his work and in making Franklin High School the best it can be.

We are fortunate and proud to have Mr. Gibson serving Franklin High School.

Macon County Schools will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day.

We hope our students, staff, and families enjoy a safe and relaxing long weekend!

Students and staff will return on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

The 2026-27 school year is already underway in many North Carolina school districts, with many more welcoming students back over the next two weeks. That means the big yellow buses are back on the roads!

Leave yourself a little extra time, be patient and stay alert around school buses and bus stops.

Did you know passing a stopped school bus can result in a $500 fine and five points on your driver’s license? If a driver strikes a child, this becomes a felony.
