Davis House Child Advocacy Center

Davis House Child Advocacy Center Davis House serves children & their families dealing with sexual or significant physical abuse in Williamson County, TN. Every Button Tells a Child’s Story.

Davis House Child Advocacy Center opened in September 2000 to provide a safe, child-friendly place for children to tell their story and receive healing services. Davis House served 530 children from our four county service area in FY20. The mission of Davis House is to provide investigative, advocacy, family support, and therapeutic services to children who have experienced sexual or significant p

hysical abuse or some other traumatic event, as well as trauma informed community education, designed to guide our towns and civic spaces to be safer and more resilient for everyone. Child abuse does not just affect the child. Once disclosure is made, the entire family is in crisis. Our dual goal: to treat the child and the family as they heal from the trauma of abuse; and to educate caregivers and our collaborative partners in order to better protect children.

Maya Angelou’s words remind us of something we see every day: carrying a painful story in silence can be incredibly heavy.

At Davis House CAC, children are given a safe place to be heard and supported after abuse. Through forensic interviews, advocacy, counseling, and coordinated services, we help ensure that a child’s story does not remain untold and that they never have to face the journey alone. 🤍🧸

Good Food, Great Company, and an Even Greater Purpose. 🍔🌭 Thank you to the Men of St. Paul’s for hosting their 2nd Annual Partners in Prevention Cookout and for continuing to support Davis House CAC and our Child Protective Investigative Team. We loved spending time with the law enforcement officers, DCS workers, prosecutors, medical professionals, mental health providers, and advocates who work together every day on behalf of children in Williamson County. We’re grateful for community partners who help bring people together and support the mission in such meaningful ways. 💙

Healing is possible. 🤍 Children receiving trauma informed therapy through Child Advocacy Centers showed significant decreases in PTSD symptoms after treatment, with a recent study finding average trauma scores dropped from 20.86 to 8.96, below clinically significant levels. Nearly 97% of caregivers also reported their child felt safe during the healing process.

At Davis House CAC, children and families have access to trauma focused therapy at no cost, helping children process abuse in a safe, supportive environment. Our Clinical Therapist is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and EMDR, and children are often supported alongside our therapy dog as ealing begins. Even in the middle of their own healing journey, we often find drawings and messages left by children who chose to encourage someone else. That kind of resilience is powerful. ✨
