North Carolina State Board of Elections Executive Director Sam Hayes issued the following statement after House Bill 834 became law this week.

“I would like to thank the General Assembly for passing House Bill 834, which will strengthen and improve election administration in North Carolina. The changes in this legislation will give elections officials additional time and flexibility to process ballots, address voter issues, and carry out their responsibilities. We appreciate the General Assembly’s continued support of the State Board and look forward to implementing these changes to better serve voters and county boards of elections across North Carolina.”

Ready to Register.org is a 3rd party group that has been sending out valid NC voter registration forms with an envelope to return it to our office with a letter stating you may not be registered. It is unclear exactly where this organization is getting its information from, possibly outdated public voter information. Many people have received this letter and are confused because they know they are registered. If you receive this letter and are sure you are registered you can throw it away. You also can call us at the office and we can verify your status. If you would like to register you may do that by completing the form and mail it in the envelope provided to us. The North Carolina State Board is aware of this third party and are reaching out to them concerning their process.
