As the time springs forward Sunday morning, here’s a friendly reminder to replace your batteries in your smoke/CO alarms. If your alarms chirp every couple of minutes, that’s not an indication that they are working properly. The batteries need to be replaced/end of life. Smoke/CO alarms are good for 10 years then they need replacing as well, dates are listed on the back side of the alarm.

October kicks off Fire Prevention Month. Sep 29-Oct 2 we had the privilege to teach the students at Franklin Elementary fire safety. Students were taught 2 ways to get out of a house incase of a fire. How to stay low, and below the smoke by crawling. What a meeting place is, and not to play with matches, or lighters.

So if you want to burn within 150 ft of a wooded, crop, or brushy areas you can only burn between the hours of 6pm and 6am. If you are inside the city limits you must contact the fire department Monday - Friday between 8am - 4pm to start the process of getting a burn permit.
