Franklin Community Schools is twenty miles south of Indianapolis and 90 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky on I-65 and U.S. 31. The city of Franklin is named after one of our nation’s founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin. Our city is located in the heart of Johnson County and serves as the county seat. A popular suburban community, Franklin’s population has grown 8.9 % since 2000. As expected, Franklin Community Schools has experienced growth as well. We have added 954 students since 2000 to bring us to our current corporation total of 4,994. This district is known for our learning opportunities, programs, and outstanding facilities. Our students experience a technologically advanced learning environment that helps prepare them for their future experiences. We proudly have several acclaimed and recognized educators who teach in Franklin Community Schools. From a national leader in science and math to multiple Indiana Department of Education Teacher of the Year finalists, our district is a leader in education.

Mrs. Petty's second graders took their learning back thousands of years as they dressed in togas to celebrate their CKLA stories about Ancient Greek Civilization!

From Greek gods and goddesses to famous philosophers and historic battles, students have been discovering what made this ancient society so fascinating. Dressing the part added an extra layer of fun to their learning and brought the stories to life! 📜✨

🏐 Serving up some appreciation! 🍎✨

FCHS senior and volleyball player Karlin turned her senior project into a special night of gratitude by organizing a Teacher Appreciation Night before the game!

As part of the celebration, students wrote kind messages recognizing the teachers who make a difference in their lives. It was a thoughtful way to remind our educators that their hard work, encouragement, and dedication don't go unnoticed.

We love seeing our students find meaningful ways to give back and celebrate the people who help them succeed, both on and off the court! 🥹💙

Mrs. Phair’s middle school scientists got hands-on experience exploring the unique properties of water! From making soda cans implode to investigating density, surface tension and more, students saw science in action. 🧪

They also traced a water molecule’s journey, created a paper-chain representation of its path and built their own water cycle models. Learning is flowing in Mrs. Phair’s classroom!💧🔬

⚡A world of imagination! 🏛️

After reading a variety of Greek myths, Mrs. Sharp's students got the chance to become storytellers and create myths of their own!

With a roll of the dice, students selected their main character (a god or goddess), supernatural power, and the beast they would face. From there, their imaginations took off! 🐉🌪️

It is always exciting to see their creative ideas come to life as they put their knowledge of Greek mythology to work, incorporating the key elements of a myth into their very own stories. Looks like we may have some future authors in the making! ✍️

Last week, our transportation team sent off bus driver Drew Titara with donuts, well wishes and lots of appreciation as he prepares for deployment with the U.S. Air Force. ✈️

We’re grateful for his service to our country and the care he’s shown our students as part of the FCS team. While we’ll miss seeing him behind the wheel, we’ll be cheering him on from home and wishing him safety and success in the days ahead.

Creekside artists have spent the first nine weeks of school sharpening their drawing skills, and WOW, has their hard work paid off! 👏

🌎🕵️‍♀️ A little world history, a lot of curiosity, and one epic classroom scavenger hunt!

What better way to wrap up the last day before Fall Break than with a global adventure? Our high school world history students explored their teacher’s travel-inspired classroom, searching for UBIs (Jeopardy-esque “useless bits of information” 😉) hidden in plain sight!

With fun facts spanning 54 countries and all 7 continents, students put their observation skills, close-reading strategies, and investigative thinking to the test. Along the way, they learned about Botswana’s 50th anniversary of independence, practiced saying hello in Fijian, discovered where amber can be found in Lithuania and Japan, and even uncovered the only Finnish word adopted into the English language!

🔎 The challenge? Explore 600 square feet of information, work together, and find as many answers as possible before the final bell.

The result? A classroom full of curiosity, collaboration, and students engaged in learning right up to the start of Fall Break! 🌍👏
