Last night the Macon County Emergency Chaplins hosted many emergency management personnel from across the county recognizing the effort they put into providing the services for their community and town. Every agency operating has their important piece in that task of responding to those in need. We recognize all, across the board, who serve in some capacity both large and small, seasoned and new, who respond willingly and faithfully.
There are many who have showed heroism over this past year, especially in the face of Helene that is not to be discounted. One of our own was selected to be honored for their role in service over the past year.
We at the department decided to nominate Riana despite it being her first year serving in the fire service because we believe it recognizes a great need. That need being for more folks who are willing to take that step into the role of service.
Riana responded to numerous calls, accomplished many hours of training working toward her Firefighter Certification, while being a full time student at Western Carolina University studying Emergency and Disaster Management and working part time amongst it all. Over the past year she jumped head first into the role of service and quickly became an important part of our team.
The need for individuals who are willing to jump into that role of service is great, every emergency agency/organization can attest to that message. Thank you Riana for being willing to take that role !
