👮‍♂️📚 Police Day at Atlantic Shores Christian School! 📚👮‍♂️

Officer Johns had a great time participating in Police Day at Atlantic Shores Christian School, where he had the opportunity to speak with the kindergarteners about what law enforcement is and what police officers do in our community.

The students were especially amazed to learn that police officers work around the clock—even while most citizens are sleeping! 😮🌙 Their curiosity and excitement made for a fun and memorable visit.

The City of Franklin Police Department is thankful for the opportunity to connect with young citizens and help them learn more about the important role law enforcement plays in keeping the community safe.

Officer Johns truly enjoyed his time with the kids and appreciates the warm welcome from Atlantic Shores Christian School! 💙👮‍♂️

🚨Public Notice🚨

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Franklin Communications Center received a report of an altercation at the Walmart located at 1500 Armory Drive.

Initial information indicated that one of the individuals involved had brandished a r***e. As additional calls were received, the Communications Center was also advised that a caller had heard a loud bang but could not confirm whether it was a gunshot.

The Franklin Police Department, assisted by the Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Courtland Police Department, and the Virginia State Police responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers determined that no shots had been fired and that both parties involved had left the area.

We appreciate the assistance of our law enforcement partners and the public’s cooperation while officers responded to and investigated the incident.

At this time, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
