ATTENTION ALL REGISTERED VOTERS

As we move through another election cycle, I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank ALL our Election Commissioners for their dedication and service.

Many people may not realize the long hours these individuals work before, during, and after Election Day. They are your neighbors, friends, and fellow community members who step forward to help ensure our elections run smoothly and fairly.

It is important to understand that Election Commissioners do not create election laws, policies, or procedures. They are tasked with implementing the laws and directives provided by state and federal election authorities as well as the Clerk of Court and ROV staff who follow the same directives from election authorities. Like voters, we all must continually adapt to changes in election procedures, technology, and regulations, often with very limited time to learn and prepare.

As new requirements and processes are introduced, our commissioners work diligently to do the best job possible for the voters they serve. They deserve patience, kindness, and understanding as they carry out these important responsibilities.

We also encourage all voters to take a few moments before heading to the polls to familiarize themselves with any changes that may affect their voting experience. Visiting the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website, reviewing your sample ballot, and learning about election updates beforehand can help make the voting process quicker and easier for everyone.

Elections are a team effort. By being informed, patient, and respectful, we can all help create a positive voting experience for our little community.

Thank you to our Election Commissioners for your commitment, professionalism, and service to our parish. We know it can be challenging. So when you go to vote, please thank them for their services.

If you want to get involved to be a commissioner, contact the Clerk of Court Office. They will be grateful for any help they can receive. You are needed!

Judge Greg Aucoin, Chief Deputy Michelle Bourque, and the entire election staff are doing an EXCELLENT job considering all the changes.

A little patience and understanding go a long way. Let’s support those who work tirelessly to protect the integrity of our elections and serve our voters.

Please share so this message can reach those who give their time, dedication and efforts.
