seeks to assist the Johnson County Public Library in providing outstanding information, education and culture for all members of the community by granting supplemental funding to assist the library in promoting literacy in Johnson County.

Our Purpose
Created in 2016, the Johnson County Public Library Foundation joined the Friends of JCPL (founded in 1979) to provide resources that promote and encourage lifelong learning as well as support the Library's mission of strengthening our community by connecting people, resources and experiences. Thank you to two generous local families who chose to sponsor tables at this year's Tales of Beatrix Potter Afternoon Tea in November.

The Tales of Beatrix Potter Afternoon Tea is coming this November, and weā€™re delighted to recognize two of the wonderful supporters helping bring this event to life.

Their generosity supports the afternoon tea while also helping grow the Explore Summer Endowmentā€”a fund created to provide lasting support for summer learning opportunities for children.

Numbers are inā€¦the Friends raised $12,704.59 at the book sale two weeks ago. More importantly, they got thousands (>10,000 is our best guess!) of books and other media into the hands of readers, young and old, while hosting a true community celebration. At our upcoming Tales of Beatrix Potter Afternoon Tea, the Beatrix Potter Table is being sponsored in memory of Michael Burgess, whose love of reading and learning was cherished by his family.

Weā€™re honored to celebrate his life through this generous gift and grateful to his family for choosing to support the future of summer learning in his memory.
