The WCSO recently joined first responder agencies from across our region for advanced public information training through the National Information Officers Association.

Information Services Division Capt. Becky Coyle represented the Sheriff’s Office during training focused on communication during critical incidents, including lessons learned from the Maui wildfires, the New Orleans attack and other major emergencies.

Training alongside regional partners helps strengthen coordination and communication before a critical incident occurs, so agencies are better prepared to keep the public informed when it matters most.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: INTERNET PROVIDER IMPERSONATION

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office received a report today of scam calls from individuals claiming to represent Xfinity or an internet service provider. The resident reported the caller I.D listed as, "Advantis Solutions."

Here’s how the scam works:

📞 The caller tells you that someone is attempting to purchase or establish internet service using one of your previous addresses.

⚠️ The caller then asks you to verify personal information to supposedly confirm your identity or stop the transaction.

DO NOT PROVIDE THE INFORMATION

Scammers may already know your name, an old address, or other basic information. They can use those details to make the call sound legitimate and convince you to provide additional personal or financial information.

🔐 Never provide Social Security numbers, account numbers, passwords, verification codes or financial information to an unsolicited caller.

📵 Do not rely on caller ID. Phone numbers can be spoofed to appear legitimate.

☎️ Hang up and contact your internet provider directly using the phone number listed on your bill, account or the provider’s official website.

Remember: A caller knowing your name or an old address does not prove the call is legitimate. When in doubt, hang up and verify.
Please share this warning with family members, friends, and neighbors.

💙 Peace of Mind for Families, Hope for the Journey: Project Lifesaver 💙

For families caring for loved ones with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Alzheimer’s, dementia, or other cognitive conditions, wandering isn’t just a possibility—it’s a constant concern. A single moment of distraction can turn into every caregiver’s worst fear.

That’s where Project Lifesaver comes in.

Project Lifesaver uses proven tracking technology to help locate missing individuals who tend to wander. Participants wear a small, lightweight transmitter wristband that emits an individualized tracking signal. If a loved one goes missing, trained first responders use specialized receivers to locate them quickly and bring them home safely.

⏱️ Did you know? Average search times for Project Lifesaver participants are reduced from hours to minutes.

Every family deserves peace of mind, and every individual deserves a safe return home.

💜 INTERNATIONAL OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY

Today, we remember the lives lost to overdose, the families and friends who carry that loss, and those still fighting their way toward recovery.

This year marks 25 years of International Overdose Awareness Day. The 2026 theme, “25 Years On. Still Needed,” is a reminder that overdose continues to affect families and communities everywhere.

Awareness matters. Prevention matters. Knowing the signs of an overdose and how to respond can save a life.

If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately.

Today, we remember. We raise awareness. And we stand with every family whose life has been changed by overdose. 💜

Last Friday, Sheriff Jeff Hughes was sworn in for another term as Sheriff of Williamson County.

The ceremony was a meaningful opportunity to recognize Sheriff Hughes’ commitment to the citizens of Williamson County and the dedicated men and women of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office who serve alongside him each day.

As Sheriff Hughes reflected on the occasion:

“It is with humility and honor I have taken the Oath of Office today to begin another term as the Sheriff of Williamson County. I'm grateful to the members of my team at WCSO who were present today to show their support. I trust the citizens of Williamson County are as proud of the outstanding men and women who serve our county as I am. What a blessing and an honor to serve alongside them.“
