Congratulations to FHS senior Tanner Jones on a solo 8th place finish at the 5A State Golf championship. Tanner finished his 4 years as a 4-year all conference player and qualified for two state tournaments. Tanner has signed to play golf with Young Harris College and everyone at FGC says congratulations and good luck.

Update from 5A golf state championship at Sapona CC.
Tanner shot 73 (+2) and is currently In 8th place . Leaders are (-3). He had an unfortunate triple on #5 but bounced back and played final 13 holes at 1 under par.

Day one is in the books at The 22 Classic.
Wes Hall is the club house leader with a 10 under 62 . He's followed by Ashton Shope 64,
Max McClure 65, Carlos and Nestor Santana also with 65.
All total we have five flights.
Picture of scoreboard will be posted tomorrow.

I've been ask many times last 24 hours what is The 22 Classic and what's it stand for?
5 years ago tomorrow May 8 our father passed away. His jersey # was 22 and to honor him we started The 22 Classic Scholarship Foundation. Year one we did one $500 scholarship to a local student athlete.
This August we will do 10 $500 scholarships. And what makes 22 Classic Scholarship a little different is the fact the student will receive the scholarship each year they are in college. And we are proud to say each recipient has received a two year degree or on pace to receive a four year degree. I would like to say THANK YOU to our sponsors and to all those who have donated that make this possible. We love hosting the 22 Classic at FGC . We miss you dad but your legacy lives on!!
