School and Home Achievement with a Partnership for Education (SHAPE) began at Delsea Middle School in the summer of 2004. WHAT IS SHAPE?

School and Home Achievement with a Partnership for Education (SHAPE) began at Delsea Middle School in the summer of 2004. The summer enrichment program is thematic-based and utilizes activities and strategies aimed at strengthening academic skills in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Academic classes are co-taught, and students work with the Let Me Learn® process. Students also participate in

enrichment projects tied into the Math and English Language Arts classes. Research conducted on students who completed the program has shown an increase in academic achievement, standardized assessment results and confidence in school. The goal of the summer program is to provide the SHAPE students with an opportunity to:
Strengthen their academic skills in English Language Arts and Mathematics
Re-build enthusiasm for education
Engage in the process of learning
Expand horizons and perspectives through field trips.

We took our reading/learning to a hands-on real-life experience today at Camden County Boathouse. Students have been reading “The Boys in the Boat,” and today we became “SHAPE in the boat.” We might have some new crew members!

WHAT A SUMMER! Thank you all for your support and trusting us with your children. I hope everyone had fun and learned something along the way. Special shout out to my amazing staff for everything they did to make learning enjoyable and build relationships with the students. See you all in September!!
