🚨 FEMA MOBILE INTAKE RECOVERY CENTER – MADISON COUNTY 🚨

FEMA will be opening a Mobile Intake Recovery Center (MIRC) to assist individuals and families impacted by the recent disaster.

A MIRC is a temporary, mobile FEMA location deployed directly into disaster-affected communities, allowing survivors to meet face-to-face with FEMA specialists who can help with:

• Registering for disaster assistance
• Submitting required documents
• Checking the status of an application
• Getting answers to questions about available disaster relief and assistance
• Receiving guidance on the recovery process

📍 Anderson City Building
Monday, August 31 & Tuesday, September 1
⏰ 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM

📍 Pendleton Library
Wednesday, September 2 & Thursday, September 3
⏰ 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Anyone who was affected by the recent disaster is strongly encouraged to visit one of these locations to speak directly with FEMA representatives, ask questions, and apply for assistance related to their losses or damages.

We encourage everyone to share this information on social media and with neighbors, friends, family members, and anyone you encounter who may have been impacted. Getting this information into the hands of those who need assistance is extremely important.

Even if someone is unsure whether they qualify for assistance, we encourage them to stop by and speak directly with a FEMA specialist.

Here at the Frankton Police Department, we train for just about everything…

Traffic stops. ✅
Emergencies. ✅
Community events. ✅

Running out of toilet paper at the absolute WORST possible moment… WE REFUSE TO TAKE THAT CHANCE.

As you can see, these two have taken today's assignment far more seriously than anyone asked them to. One roll would have been sufficient, gentlemen.

Remember: real heroes don't always wear capes. Sometimes they're just wrapped in two-ply.

From all of us at the Frankton Police Department, have a safe and happy National Toilet Paper Day!

And remember… always check the roll BEFORE you sit down. That's one emergency even we don't want dispatched.

🚲 SCHOOL SAFETY WEDNESDAY: BICYCLE SAFETY 🚲

Whether your child rides their bike to school, to a friend's house, or just around the neighborhood, a few simple habits can make a big difference in keeping them safe.

Students & Young Riders:

🚲 Wear a helmet every time you ride. Make sure it fits properly and is securely fastened.

👀 Look left, right, and left again before entering or crossing a roadway.

🛑 Obey stop signs and traffic signals. Bicycles must follow the rules of the road, too.

➡️ Ride in the same direction as traffic, not against it.

📱 Put the phone away while riding. Keep your eyes up, ears open, and attention on what's happening around you.

🎧 Avoid headphones or earbuds that prevent you from hearing vehicles, horns, sirens, or other warnings.

🌙 Be visible. When riding in low-light conditions, use proper lights and reflectors and wear bright or reflective clothing.

🚗 Never assume a driver sees you. Slow down at intersections and driveways and make sure it is safe before proceeding.

Parents: Take a few minutes to check your child's bicycle regularly. Make sure the brakes work properly, tires are inflated, the chain is secure, reflectors are present, and the helmet still fits correctly.

And remember, children learn by watching us. When adults follow bicycle and traffic safety rules, we're setting the example for our young riders.

Some officers chase bad guys… others chase the last waffle at breakfast.

Today, Officers Jackson and Owens have been reassigned to the department’s most elite unit: The Waffle Patrol.

Their mission is simple:

🧇 Protect the waffles
🍁 Serve the syrup
🧈 Secure the butter
☕ Maintain adequate coffee levels
🚨 And investigate anyone caught eating a waffle without syrup

Remember: Stay safe. Eat waffles. Repeat.

🧚‍♂️🦷 HAPPY NATIONAL TOOTH FAIRY DAY! 🦷🧚‍♂️

Crime doesn’t sleep… and apparently, neither does the Tooth Fairy Division.

Tonight, Chief Huffman and Captain Brizendine have been reassigned to a very special detail:

🦷 Recover lost teeth
💰 Secure payment under pillows
🪥 Enforce proper brushing
✨ Sprinkle an unnecessary amount of fairy dust
🚔 Pursue anyone attempting to flee without flossing

Chief says the wings are department-issued. The tutus, however, were a personal choice.

If you hear something fluttering around your house tonight, don’t be alarmed… it’s probably just Frankton PD conducting a routine tooth extraction investigation.

Stay safe, keep brushing, and remember: floss like nobody’s watching… because apparently we are.

🚨 GROOMING ALERT! 🚨

Today is National Men’s Grooming Day, and apparently somebody decided “protect and serve” also includes comb and condition.

The Frankton Police Department would like to remind everyone that a well-groomed officer is a prepared officer. Hair?
✅ Beard?
✅ Uniform?
✅ Tactical hair spray deployed? ABSOLUTELY.

Officer Courtney has officially been cleared for Beard Duty, while Officer Owens is standing by with the department-issued comb and enough hairspray to withstand a high-speed pursuit.

Remember, gentlemen: Look good. Feel good. Serve better.

We say that depends entirely on whether bacon is involved.

Today, our officers are taking a brief break from fighting crime to address another serious public safety concern: people who order their bacon soft.

For the record, we prefer our bacon like we prefer our community…

Safe, crispy, and free of unnecessary beef. 🥓

And remember: if you smell bacon today, there’s no need to call 911. We’re probably already on scene. 😎

🚌 SCHOOL SAFETY WEDNESDAY: BUS STOP SAFETY 🚌

For many students, the school day begins and ends at the bus stop. Taking a few simple precautions can help keep everyone safe.

Students:
🔹 Arrive at your bus stop a few minutes early so you don't have to rush.

🔹 Stay at least three large steps back from the curb while waiting.

🔹 Never run toward the bus while it is still moving. Wait until it has completely stopped and the driver signals that it is safe.

🔹 If you must cross the street, cross in front of the bus where the driver can see you and follow the driver's instructions.

🔹 Never walk behind a school bus.

🔹 If you drop something near or underneath the bus, do not try to retrieve it yourself. Tell the bus driver.

🔹 Keep phones and earbuds put away when approaching or leaving the bus so you can see and hear what's happening around you.

Parents & Drivers:
🚗 Slow down and stay alert around school bus stops, especially during morning and afternoon hours.

🚗 Never pass a school bus when its red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended.

🚗 Watch carefully for children who may unexpectedly enter the roadway.

🚗 Give yourself extra time during your morning and afternoon commute.

A few extra seconds of patience can help make sure every student gets to school, and back home, safely.

A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Madison County until 2:45 PM today.

The warning includes Anderson, Elwood, Alexandria, Pendleton, Fortville, Chesterfield, Ingalls, Lapel, Edgewood, Frankton, Summitville, Markleville, Orestes, Woodlawn Heights, Country Club Heights, and River Forest.

Up to 2 inches of rain have already fallen, with additional rainfall possible. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected, particularly along small creeks and streams, streets, highways, underpasses, and other low-lying or poor-drainage areas.

⚠️ Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.
