WATER MAIN BREAKS IN TWO LOCATIONS:

I. Janet Avenue and Wilhelmine Avenue

II. 15 Mile Road and Garfield Avenue.
Please note: Due to the water main break on 15 Mile Road, the right turn lane to head south on Garfield Road will be closed for the safety of equipment and crews on site.

As part of its proactive communication, Fraser Department of Public Works (DPW) wants to inform you that some of the residents in the immediate area will have reduced water pressure during the repair. These residents have been personally notified by the DPW.

In the surrounding area, disturbances in the water main may temporarily cause minerals/sediments to appear in the water. This is no cause for serious concern. The water is still safe to use. DPW advises residents that if they experience any brown or “rusty” water, to run cold water in the bathtub or utility sink until the coloration subsides. Typically, the water should clear up in about 10-15 minutes.

DPW understands and empathizes with the inconvenience this water main break may cause to our residents. If any further developments arise regarding this issue, DPW will make sure to communicate them to everyone as soon as possible.

Simon & Garfunkel once sang, "Someone told me, it's all happening at the zoo" and the same thing is true of the Fraser Senior Activity Center (SAC), which is, by coincidence, taking a trip to the Detroit Zoo later this month!

Those 55+ can enjoy regularly scheduled recreation activities, like Pickleball and Yoga, special events geared toward the season like this month's Patriotic Craft or Ice Cream Social, or short day trips to places around Metro Detroit, including area casinos, historic landmarks, and other senior-friendly spaces.

Add Dining Senior Style lunch options, offered Monday through Friday for those 60+ as well as their spouses, who can be any age, and you've got a FANTASTIC Fraser place to be during the week from 9 AM to 1 PM.

If you haven't yet become a member, consider joining!
A LIFETIME membership is only $25 for Fraser residents and $35 for non-residents. That membership allows you access to SAC member-only events as well as lower prices on monthly trips and special events with fees, like the Summer Festival coming up on Friday, June 5.

For membership information or to learn more about what SAC has to offer, stop by 34935 Hidden Pine Drive in Fraser, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 1 PM.

PLEASE NOTE: Dining Senior Style WILL NOT be served on Friday, June 19. The program is closed in observance of the Juneteenth Holiday.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!

On Saturday, June 6, join Releaf Michigan, in cooperation with the Consumers Energy Foundation, Fraser Department of Public Works (DPW), and the City of Fraser, along with community leaders, coworkers, family, friends, and neighbors as they plant 40 - double the number planted last October - new trees in our city!
These trees will help strengthen the green space infrastructure of our big small town. In addition to making the outdoors more beautiful, trees reduce noise pollution, encourage social interaction, discourage graffiti, and curb speeding in residential areas. One young, healthy tree produces the net cooling equivalent to 10 room-sized air conditioners operating 20 hours daily - Talk about energy efficiency!

YOU can help with make Fraser even more fantastic when you sign up to help plant on Saturday, June 6! Please visit https://www.releafmichigan.org/RSVP/ to add more beauty to our community.

Planting will begin 8:45 AM at 17715 Airport Road in Fraser. Volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes appropriate for outdoor work (and getting dirty). Please bring a sturdy rake, shovel, and gardening/work gloves if you have any or all of these. The day will conclude at approximately 12 PM.

Many thanks to Fraser First Booster Club, Inc. and Fraser Beautification for helping organize this incredible event, based in ecology, community, and hometown pride. A shoutout to our dedicated Fraser DPW staff for helping out on a Saturday as well.

Hope to see you there!

Fraser City Hall and the Fraser Senior Activity Center (SAC) will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

Regular hours at both buildings will resume on Tuesday, May 26.

As we pay tribute to those veterans who gave their lives in service to the United States, know that there are many ways in which you may honor the fallen in Macomb County, including:

Visiting memorials, like those at Fraser City Hall, or cemetaries in which fallen service people are buried. Memorial Day offers the opportunity to learn the location of such gravesites. You may want to clean the marker, bring flowers, or simply reflect on what their sacrifice means to you today.

Attending the 47th Annual Sterling Heights Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade.

The ceremony begins at 9 AM at City Center Courtyard, 40555 Utica Road, between Sterling Heights City Hall and its Police Department. This year's theme is "Remember the Past, Honor the Present: 250 Years of America."

After the ceremony, the parade will begin, heading from the City Center parking lot at 10 AM, moving south down Dodge Park Road.

Observing the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 PM on Monday, May 25. Spending 60 seconds in silence, reflecting on that sacrifices made by those service people, unifies us in gratitude for those departed.

As you observe Memorial Day, the City of Fraser wishes everyone a safe holiday weekend.

Join your Fraser family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors in celebrating 250 years of American history when you show your patriotic and civic pride in the City-Wide Curb Appeal Competition: Fraser - Red, White & YOU!

Residents and business owners alike can participate as our nation and the City of Fraser join with communities across the United States to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Make U.S. and Fraser history by decorating your home or business! Encouraged elements include, but are not limited to, vintage buntings and flags, floral arrangements and plantings in red, white, and blue, along with local, regional, and national flag and banner displays. Entries will be judged on three criteria: creativity and originality, incorporation of themes, and community spirit.

Once you've finished your display, register and upload your photo by Sunday, July 12 at https://www.frasercitymi.gov/FormCenter/CityWide-Events-9/2026-CityWide-Curb-Appeal-Competition-90

A panel of judges will decide the winners, who will be announced at the City Picnic immediately following the Fraser Parade on Sunday, July 26!

Fraser Department of Public Works (DPW) is repairing a water main break on Linden Avenue.

As part of our proactive communication, DPW staff wants to remind some residents in the immediate area that their water will be shut off during the repair. These residents have been personally notified by DPW of the shut off.

In the surrounding area, disturbances in the water main may temporarily cause minerals/sediments to appear in the water. This is no cause for serious concern. The water is still safe to use. The City of Fraser is excited to note that Sunday, May 17-Saturday, May 23, 2026 is National Public Works Week!

As such, Mayor Michael Lesich was equally glad to sign the National Public Works Week proclamation on Thursday, May 14. This proclamation recognizes the important work that not only Fraser Department of Public Works (DPW) staff does throughout the year, but also the labor performed by DPW staff across the United States.

This year's theme, "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” demonstrates that the roots of public service run deep in DPW professionals. While some of their work is highly visible, much of it isn't. Whether seen or unseen, DPW work forms the foundation of our community, helping it to thrive, strengthening the connection between city services and the residents and businesses that use these daily.

The City of Fraser is grateful for the work - carrried out in every season and weather condition Michigan offers - done by our DPW staff, which is vital to sustainable and resilient communities and to public health, high quality of life, and the well-being of its residents.

With National Public Works Week now in its 66th year, the City of Fraser encourages all residents and business owners to join with representatives of the American Public Works Association and government agencies in activities, events, and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works professionals, engineers, managers, and employees, and to recognize the substantial contributions they make to protecting our national health and safety and advancing quality of life for all.

Thank you, Fraser DPW! We appreciate all that you do!
