Frederick CO River Watch as the powerfully destructive Frederick river devours old Town

05/11/2025

Hi neighbors!
Just checking in. I hope that everyone this reaches shows up on Tuesday for the board meeting. The final vote for the rezoning of maple and 3rd is happening. The planning comity voted to deny the rezone and I hope the board sees it the same. That being said, the town has already chosen to decline the repairs proposed by Smith environmental to mitigate the ground water issue.
The ground water is too high in tds to be used for anything.
The salt content of the ground water cuts the lifetime of all concrete in half, and the expected life is 50 years without the salt. EVERY HOME IN OLD TOWN IS UNSAFE!!!(they were built at least 100 years ago.)
The fix will cost 7.6 to 5.6 million dollars, but it seems that the town would prefer to demolish your historic home and build multi unit buildings in its place(see maple and 3rd rezone issue, a proponent accused all opposed of being bigots, it's on record. )

After paying almost $2k for a private survey,

I'm being told that a fix for my home so it doesn't collapse will cost up to $40k.

The town engineer has already said the sump discharge has destroyed the storm drain and 5th.
It took 5 years and millions to have that installed.
If you have sumps or have seen the water in town, think. Do you have 40k to just toss away?
Once the funds are raised, the local tributary to the Fredrick River plans to increase the discharge from roughly 500 gallons an hour( where it currently sits,) to about 3000 gallons.
Stay tuned for updates on future planned gutter boat races, we'll need to raise funds somehow!

Huge win tonight at the planning commission meeting! So thankful for all of the wonderful community members that showed up to have their voices heard. It should be noted that the supporting parties for rezoning 320 maple Street constantly used hyperbole to accuse the community of being bigoted and ecnocentric. They also engaged in double speak claiming that they could build a large retirement home there even though it is still currently zoned public. I encourage everyone who sees this to stay vigilante. Engage, go to the meetings! If you're inclined they still need commity members
Thanks for reading.
Stay Frederick, stay built on what matters!

Thanks to the efforts of a local volunteer, and NOT Town of Frederick, CO - Government, the sidewalks are no longer being over run by torrential downpours!

A violinist played for 45 minutes in the New York subway. A handful of people stopped, a couple clapped, and the violinist raised about $30 in tips.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. In that subway, Joshua played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars. And two days before he played in the subway, with again not many people appreciating his skills .

Joshua Bell sold out a Boston theatre, and the seats averaged about $100.

The experiment proved that the extraordinary in an ordinary environment does not shine and is so often overlooked and undervalued.

There are brilliantly talented people everywhere who aren’t receiving the recognition and reward they deserve. But once they arm themselves with value and confidence and remove themselves from an environment that isn’t serving them, they thrive and grow.

Your gut is telling you something. Listen to it if it’s telling you where you are isn’t enough!

Go where you are appreciated and valued.

Beautiful today! Current steady after that downpour yesterday
