Hi neighbors!
Just checking in. I hope that everyone this reaches shows up on Tuesday for the board meeting. The final vote for the rezoning of maple and 3rd is happening. The planning comity voted to deny the rezone and I hope the board sees it the same. That being said, the town has already chosen to decline the repairs proposed by Smith environmental to mitigate the ground water issue.
The ground water is too high in tds to be used for anything.
The salt content of the ground water cuts the lifetime of all concrete in half, and the expected life is 50 years without the salt. EVERY HOME IN OLD TOWN IS UNSAFE!!!(they were built at least 100 years ago.)
The fix will cost 7.6 to 5.6 million dollars, but it seems that the town would prefer to demolish your historic home and build multi unit buildings in its place(see maple and 3rd rezone issue, a proponent accused all opposed of being bigots, it's on record. )
After paying almost $2k for a private survey,
I'm being told that a fix for my home so it doesn't collapse will cost up to $40k.
The town engineer has already said the sump discharge has destroyed the storm drain and 5th.
It took 5 years and millions to have that installed.
If you have sumps or have seen the water in town, think. Do you have 40k to just toss away?
Once the funds are raised, the local tributary to the Fredrick River plans to increase the discharge from roughly 500 gallons an hour( where it currently sits,) to about 3000 gallons.
Stay tuned for updates on future planned gutter boat races, we'll need to raise funds somehow!
