πŸ“šπŸ’™ COIPP + AP Cycle : Creating More Opportunities for Our Kids!

We are so excited to announce a new partnership between Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership (COIPP) and AP Cycle, a student-led nonprofit right here in Frederick County!

AP Cycle works to reduce educational waste while expanding access to learning resources for students who may not otherwise have equal access to academic materials. Through this partnership, AP Cycle will help connect our COIPP families with gently used educational resources based on the needs of our children and families.

πŸ“– Resources may include:
✨ Children’s books
πŸ“š AP review books
πŸ“ SAT/ACT preparation materials
✏️ School supplies
πŸŽ“ Other academic resources requested by our families

For COIPP, this partnership is about more than books and school supplies. It’s about removing barriers to education and making sure our children have the tools they need to learn, grow, and succeed.

We know that families impacted by incarceration can face additional financial and logistical challenges, and partnerships like this help us provide practical support while creating more opportunities for our children.

We are incredibly grateful to AP Cycle for seeing the importance of this work and for helping us build a stronger educational support system for the children and families we serve. πŸ’™

When our community shares resources, our children gain opportunities. πŸ“šβœ¨

πŸ’™πŸ“š COIPP BACK-TO-SCHOOL FAIR THANK YOU! πŸ“šπŸ’™

What an AMAZING day! Our Back-to-School Fair was filled with smiles, laughter, resources, creativity, and so much community love. πŸ₯Ήβœ¨

We truly could not have made this day possible without our incredible community partners who showed up for COIPP families and helped us make sure our kids head back to school feeling prepared, confident, and supported! πŸŽ’βœοΈπŸ‘Ÿ

A HUGE thank you to:

πŸŽ’βœοΈ BACK TO SCHOOL, BACK TO CONFIDENCE!

What an incredible Back-to-School Fair for our COIPP families! ❀️

A huge THANK YOU to every partner, donor, and volunteer who helped make sure children in our community can walk through those school doors feeling prepared, confident, cared for, and ready to learn.

Because sometimes, β€œback to school” means much more than a backpack and a new notebook.

For families already carrying the weight of financial stress, family challenges, and the many realities that come with having an incarcerated loved one, the cost of getting children ready for a new school year can add another layer of pressure.

Our community came together to help lift some of that weight. πŸ’™

πŸŽ’ School supplies
πŸ‘Ÿ Brand-new shoes
🧦 New socks
🍎 Meals for families
πŸ’ˆ Fresh haircuts
❀️ And countless hours of love, encouragement, and volunteer support

Research continues to show that children’s readiness for school is connected to their social-emotional development, self-regulation, health, and ability to learn. Children who enter school ready to learn are more likely to experience positive academic and behavioral outcomes as they progress through elementary school.

And that is why these seemingly simple things matter.

A child shouldn't have to worry about whether their shoes fit, whether they have the supplies they need, or whether they look different from their classmates.

Instead, they get to focus on being a kid.
They get to focus on learning.
They get to make friends.
They get to walk into school with their head held high. ❀️

✨ A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO SLICOLOGY!

Slicology went above and beyond by providing haircuts for COIPP children AND children of our community partners! πŸ’ˆβ€οΈ

There is something powerful about sitting in that chair, getting a fresh haircut, looking in the mirror, and seeing yourself looking your absolute best before the first day of school. It's not vanity. It's confidence.
When a child feels prepared, cared for, and confident in how they present themselves, that can support their sense of belonging, self-esteem, and social-emotional well-being as they enter a new school year.

Thank you, Slicology, for helping our kids start the year not only looking their best but feeling their best, too.

To every person who donated supplies, bought shoes, provided food, volunteered their time, gave a haircut, packed a bag, greeted a family, or simply showed up:

YOU helped make back-to-school a little lighter for a family who is already carrying so much.

That is what community looks like.

That is what showing up looks like.

And that is what COIPP is all about. πŸ’™

Together, we are helping our children walk into the new school year prepared, confident, and knowing that their community believes in them. πŸŽ’βœ¨

That time already??? YES! We're starting to see costumes in stores and thrift shops...that means it's time to start collecting for our costume drive!
All sizes toddler to teen are needed. Costumes can be gently used or new, and we can even use loose pieces like capes, masks, or tutus. Please take a moment to clean out those closets, and send us a message to arrange a pickup/dropoff.
Thank you for your support!
