📚✨ Come meet the teachers, explore the classrooms, and get ready for a great start to the new school year!

🕑 2:00–3:00 PM — Pre-K and kindergarten
🕒 3:00–4:00 PM — Grades 1–5

🎒 Families are welcome to bring their child’s school supplies and drop them off in the classroom during Open House.

✅ Be sure to stop by the PTA table to say hi, meet PTA members, and see what’s new for the year!

Reminder: The Whittier Elementary School PTA invites you to a popsicle playdate! 🍧

Come meet new classmates, reconnect with old friends, connect with other families, and cool down with a freeze pop at Greenleaf Park Playground!

PTA board members will also be there to meet families and answer any questions you may have.

🛍️ Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week
📅 Sunday 8/9–Saturday 8/15

During this week, qualifying apparel and footwear priced at $100 or less per item are exempt from the state sales tax. The first $40 of a backpack or bookbag purchase is also tax-free. (Accessory items, except for backpacks, are not included.)

Orientation sessions are organized by the student’s last name:

🕔 5:00–5:30 PM — Last names A–I
🕕 5:45–6:15 PM — Last names J–Q
🕡 6:30–7:00 PM — Last names R–Z

👧🧒 Who: Incoming kindergarten students and their parents or guardians

🎉 What to expect: Students will enjoy playtime in the media center while parents and guardians meet school staff and connect with other Whittier families in the cafeteria.

📦 Classroom pod move — Monday 8/3 and Tuesday 8/4

Adult volunteers are needed to help move furniture into the new classroom spaces.

🛒 Hand carts and dollies are also welcome!

Even an hour or two of help would make a big difference.

Looking for cardio and community service? We’ve got you covered📦💪

We’re getting closer to the pod move-in date, and we need lots of adult helpers to move furniture into the new spaces.

📅 Monday 8/3 and Tuesday 8/4
🕖 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

Think of it as:
🏋️ workout for a good cause
📦 box-lifting with friends
🏫 helping get classrooms ready for students

Even if you can only stop by for an hour or two, it would make a huge difference. There are 10 classrooms of furniture to move, so the more helping hands, the better!

📚✏️ It’s that time again! The 2026–2027 school supply lists are here! 🚌✨

Get a head start on preparing for a successful school year by checking what your student will need for their grade. ✅

Let’s make this year the best one yet! 💙🍎

✨ Of note ✨
The supplies listed below will be used by your child as part of the instructional program for their grade level. We appreciate your support in providing these materials. However, if you are unable to purchase any of the listed supplies, please contact a staff member at the school. Items not included on the supply lists will be provided by the school.

Don’t forget to label your student’s belongings, including:

🧥 Sweaters and jackets
🎒 Backpacks
💧 Water bottles
🍎 Lunch boxes

Please also consider donating any of the items listed in the final image.

The first day of school is just one month away—Wednesday, August 19! We can’t wait to welcome students and families back for the new school year. 💙

🛍️ Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week — Sunday 8/9–Saturday 8/15
