It is with heavy hearts that the Republican Club of Frederick County mourns the passing of U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.

Senator Graham passed away this weekend at the age of 71. A dedicated Air Force veteran and public servant, he represented South Carolina in the Senate from 2003 until his death, more than 23 years of strong leadership.

Graham was known for his steadfast support of a strong national defense, our allies, and a bold American foreign policy. He made his mark on the Senate Judiciary and Budget Committees and worked tirelessly to advance conservative principles.

His relationship with President Trump started off rocky during the 2016 campaign but grew into a close and effective partnership. Graham became one of the President’s key advisers on foreign policy and national security.

We send our thoughts and prayers to his family and colleagues in South Carolina. Senator Graham’s long service and commitment to our country will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Senator.

Frederick County had five different locations participating in the event!

I was glad to be in attendance as the Town of Thurmont joined over 1,000 other towns and cities nationwide in a simultaneous reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Tonight’s event, dubbed “Sharing the Spirit of America,” featured Americans in all 50 States, 5 Territories, the District of Columbia, and Minor Outlying Islands of the United States — along with participants around the globe — reading the Declaration of Independence “together” at 6:00 PM EDT, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the date of its first public reading! 🇺🇸
