Our resident emotional support pup Siren is here to wish you a happy Monday. 🐾

Her advice is to keep an eye out for snacks, take a nap if you need it, and keep your tail wagging through the busy days.

Not every rescue has flashing lights and a stretcher. 🐇

Earlier today, Engine 3401 and Medic 3421 responded to help rescue a rabbit trapped in a window well in Frederick. Thanks to the quick work and kind hearts of our crews, this little guy made it safely back out.

Sometimes the smallest calls can still make a big impact.

Earlier this month, crews from Frederick-Firestone Fire and Platteville Gilcrest Fire Protection District trained together during a live fire exercise at the Platteville Gilcrest Fire Training Facility.

The scenario focused on a mayday situation inside a working structure fire, requiring crews to locate and remove a downed firefighter dummy during the extrication portion of the exercise. Once the firefighter dummy was removed, crews transitioned to the medical portion of the scenario using a real person in place of the dummy to provide more realistic patient care training while continuing fire suppression efforts.

Training like this helps prepare our firefighters for some of the most challenging situations they may face on the fireground. It also gives crews the opportunity to strengthen working relationships and practice alongside neighboring departments they may respond with during real emergencies.

Thank you to Platteville Gilcrest Fire for hosting and training with us.

In the early morning hours of 5/27, our crews responded to a semi vs. semi collision on southbound I-25 near mile marker 236.

Despite the severity of the crash, only one patient was transported to the hospital and no serious injuries were reported. Incidents like this are uncommon, but they are exactly why we train for complex roadway emergencies and large vehicle extrications.

Thank you to all responding agencies and personnel who helped bring the scene to a safe resolution. The roadway reopened around this morning’s rush hour.

Sometimes the job is a little outside the usual call list. Over the weekend, Firefighter D. Salomon helped rescue a bird that had become tangled in fishing line and trapped in a tree.

Thanks to some patience and teamwork, the bird was safely freed and able to fly away unharmed. 🐦
