Earned the Title | Ep. 2

Born in Cuba, Pfc. Lopez Baralt came to the United States with his family in search of greater opportunity. Years later, as a 32-year-old single father of two, he made another life-changing decision... to earn the title of United States Marine.

Choosing to serve later in life meant balancing responsibilities that many recruits never face. Through determination, discipline, and perseverance, Lopez Baralt proved that the path to becoming a Marine is defined not by age or circumstance, but by the commitment to answer the challenge.

Now serving as a Marine Corps Reservist and Light Armored Vehicle Crewman (LAV) /MOS 0313, Lopez Baralt’s journey is a testament to the idea that there is no single path to earning the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. Every Marine arrives with a different story, but every Marine earns the same title.

His story reminds us that the American dream isn’t simply about where you begin; it’s about the opportunities you choose to pursue, the sacrifices you’re willing to make, and the example you set for those who look up to you.

In Episode 1 of Before the Title, Poolee Hassan shares what she’s looking forward to most as she prepares to ship to Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island and take the next step toward becoming a United States Marine.

Lead from the front.

What begins as a dream can become reality through discipline, commitment, and hard work.

Pfc. Kemp recently graduated recruit training with 3rd Battalion, November Company where she was appointed Company Guide and selected by her platoon as the Molly Marine. This recognition is earned through leadership, character, and performance.

With the title earned, Kemp's journey continues at Marine Combat Training, followed by Aircrew training as she prepares to serve in Marine aviation.

Congratulations, Marine. Semper Fidelis.
