Thank you to everyone who came out to support (Pecan Creek School) at today’s open house! We especially appreciated the visit from Fredericksburg Vintage Car Club, because those vehicles were amazing! Shout out to mother nature for giving us a perfect day.

Many thanks to Eric Voigt for smoking the pork for the sandwiches in the driving rain on Friday. Also to Beverly Johnson, Anton Loest, Helen Feller, and Ruby Lee Clark for their work on cleaning the venue, providing desserts and side dishes, and acting as docents for tours of the school.

How do you get an old, broken down, mouse-infested piano that weighs as much as an elephant loaded onto a trailer? With the help of some really good neighbors! Many thanks to Wesley, Todd, Dalton, and Tammy Keener for lending their muscle and equipment to get this job done. Special thanks to Wayne Utley for the loan of his dump trailer, and to Eric Voigt for taking this behemoth to its final resting place.

Built in 1916, Pecan Creek School is now 110 years old. Take a scenic drive to Fredericksburg and visit the school from 11am - 4pm during the annual open house on 5/2/26.

Step into the past and experience what education was like in simpler times. No iPads or computers here!

After a tour of the school, enjoy a house-smoked pulled pork sandwich plate with a variety of sides, dessert, and tea for a suggested donation of $10 (cash only). Proceeds support the maintenance of the historic school and pavilion.

The open house will also feature a visit from the Fredericksburg Vintage Car Club from 11am – 1pm. The Club is comprised of a wide array of vintage vehicles, from the Model A to vehicles from the 1970s and 80s.

The event will be held at 3410 Pecan Creek Rd, Fredericksburg, TX. Call 512-554-4870 for more information.

Pecan Creek School Community Club is taking a hiatus in January and February 2026, so we will not have a social event those months.

We plan to have a meeting in March unless the weather presents a challenge. Stay tuned for more details.
