beneficial to everyone across the lifespan, and they can be fun!

The most common risk factors that can result in a fall:

It is a common misconception that as you get older, you lose your ability to live at home and be self-sufficient. The truth is that most seniors would rather stay in their own homes versus live elsewhere.

Being an independent senior has never been easier with so many resources, programs, and services available to assist you. Take advantage of the available resources, and don't allow your age to dictate what you can and cannot do. Although it is critical to know your limitations and not act unreasonably when deciding to remain independent, be cautious because independence can be difficult, but it is attainable.

Consider some of these basics for fall prevention and to maintain independence within your home:
• Improve your home by moving or securing carpets and loose cords to the floor
• Installing automatic lights in dark areas around your home
• Securing railings inside and out
• Installing assistance rails in bathrooms and anywhere else they are needed
• Installing a chair lift when needed
• Moving heavy items to waist height shelves

With fall festivals and fairs upon us, it's important to remember that the virus that causes #COVID19 is still spreading through our communities. Vaccinated (yay, you!) or not (now's the time!), keep your distance from others- yes, even outside- and wear a mask if you find yourself in crowded conditions.

I can’t even begin to tell you how hard every employee of Healthy Generations has worked to keep area seniors safe and socialized. Making sure that everyone isolating during this pandemic received the food, groceries and pet food they need; putting together extraordinary activites, book clubs and phone calls to keep our seniors “meeting” and together; delivering groceries, meals, and fun to many, many seniors. Providing transportation to so many without. On this Labor Day, you are to be celebrated for all the wonderful things you do in our community. Thank you! Enjoy this day!

Hi, it's Corinne from My Virtual OT! I wanted to share two of our videos with you that could promote safe aging in place, which is so important especially during this time. Feel free to share with anyone you think could benefit. 55+ community villa for sale...let the HOA take care of landscaping, snow removal, trash pickup while you enjoy living in your own home:
Hi everyone! I am considering starting a telehealth OT practice to safely serve vulnerable individuals during the COVID-19 outbreak. As I try to develop a plan in this new time, I welcome any and all feedback. Please consider reading a brief description of how OT can serve individuals virtually, and complete the subsequent survey: ------------------------------------------------------ Occupational Therapy (“OT”) maximizes a person’s ability to engage in their meaningful activities of daily living (also known as “ADLs”) - such as getting dressed, bathing, cooking, etc. OTs can increase safety and independence of these meaningful activities by educating clients in specific exercises, providing home recommendations, adapting the way tasks are completed, and ordering recommended equipment. All of this can be done virtually! During this pandemic, many are spending more time indoors and are less able to engage in what is most important to them. The individuals most at risk for complications from COVID-19 are likely the ones who could use OT the most, and I am passionate about developing a virtual business to address this gap. Please help me develop my plan so I can enhance their health without the risk of community exposure. Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
